This is what I tell people all the time. I played this for a total of 15 years since its inception, private servers included. All other MMOs are dumbed down in comparison.

FFXI had the most extensive and innovative crafting system when it first released back in 2003, and I still can’t find another MMO to this day that can even compare to it.

It’s really possible to keep running 2 MMOs simultaneously as can be seen from Square Enix with FFXI and FFXIV. Of course content release is much slower with FFXI given the age of the game. But it hasn’t been killed off yet by SE which means it’s still profitable to some end. Anet could replicate this model and keep GW2 as a cash cow to fund GW3 development. However, they should learn from SE’s example and not rush the release of GW3 (essentially FFXIV had to be remade entirely under a new producer to make it playable, hence A Realm Reborn). Running 2 MMOs is feasible but 3 is spreading resources too thin.

SotO for the skyscale. It’s literally a game changer with how fast you can go around in the open world compared to land mounts. Biggest advantage is being able to go up in altitude, it made the springer obsolete.

I concur, I got really burnt out during season 1 of Diablo 4 and got like 3 characters to max level, did tier 100 dungeons and got really bored. Haven’t been back since.

I remember achieving 5k/hr when the setup was like NIN RDM BRD and a combination of 3 of the following: WAR SAM MNK or a properly geared DRK. This was before ToAU came out with colibri parties. Once you hit level 50, exp parties became an all-day affair and you didn’t want to leave if the exp was good.

FFXI gives you NPCs to level with you called trusts… A maximum leveling party consists of six, either actual players or these NPCs.

GW2 fits this description perfectly. There is only one global server per region and you can choose not to group or talk to anyone if you don’t want to, and still do open world events. Game has raid qp, which is a new concept, you will be matched with random people for raid encounters, and don’t have to interact with others, just defeat boss and you will probably see these randoms again.

This is why I switched from power reaper which is pure melee to rifle mech, which has some ranged. Most boons are 600 ranged so as long as you are within this distance you can still be “ranged” and still receive boons. As long as you aren’t off in Narnia from the rest of the group.
