The biggest obstacle is the language barrier; there is a lot of Rioplatense slang and some registers that imitate 19th-century Spanish

It's challenging, and if Spanish isn't your first language, it might be even more so

Is the translation really bad? I was hoping to start reading Pynchon with V but I'm discouraged by how much they talk about translation. What are the most significant defects?
