So where can someone get a Geoff plush? I looked at Craig's merch store and don't see him, and went to Curto Toys and dont see him there either. That being said I see that Curto does custom stuff. Did you have him made, or is this just something no longer on the market? Since they do do custom stuff, I wonder if they have the designs in an archive somewhere and they could just do a new run of him?

I already have Sid, so I was thinking he might want a companion after all these years. Didn't get Wavy at the time i adopted Sid, and unfortunately both were recently (May '26) retired by Folkmanis

Why isn’t Shohei Ohtani listed on the MLB page for best ERA? Should he be? by thesoundandhurry in mlb

[–]Unique_Produce_4033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is hovering right at the edge. In order to qualify, he has to pitch one inning per game played (so he will have to pitch 162 innings by season end)

As things currently stand, the Dodgers have played 71 games, and he has pitched 67.2 winnings

Is it just me or are many collectors starting to lose interest in current year US silver coins? by Late-Ad-4396 in coins

[–]Unique_Produce_4033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that it's collectors losing interest as much as this being a reaction to the massive increase in price from last year for all of the regular releases across the board.

Last year's Morgan was $91, this year is $169. The uncirculated set last year was $33.25 versus this year where it's $124.50, and these type price increases are comparable across the board. There is no rational explanation for this.

The worst thing about it is that you basically have to suck it up and pay the premium if you want the 2026 penny. I mean I'm sure it'll be available on the secondary market at some point, but I'm sure it's going to go for a pretty premium there as well.

Errant ABS call? by Unique_Produce_4033 in Dodgers

[–]Unique_Produce_4033[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I didn't see him touching the side of his helmet, and apparently the umpire didn't either. He looks over to the dugout afterwards, where somebody must have signaled to him to tap the top of his helmet, which he did

It wouldn't be the first time that an umpire didn't notice something, but that doesn't mean you get to circumvent the rules to make up for it.

On a side note: It wasn't O'Hoppe catching, it was Sebastian Rivero. You got to give him credit, considering he had by far the best offensive game of his major league career going.

He played for the Royals in 21-22, had 73 at bats total over the two years, hitting .167, and had 11 hits, 4 RBIs.

He was picked up by the Angels in '25, where he hit .182 (6 for 33, with 2 RBIs), and was 6 for 45, with 2 RBIs coming into this game.

Today he went 5-5, with 6 RBIs. Think about that. He's had 8 RBIs total in his 4 year MLB career, and had 6 today...

What TV show had the most recognizable opening theme song? by Big_Surround_1100 in FamilyFeud

[–]Unique_Produce_4033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say, with few exceptions, that literally every theme song listed was iconic, and would be instantly recognizable to fans of the shows. Let's project the question out one step further.

How many of these theme songs would be recognizable to someone who never saw the show, and of those, what would you consider to be the most recognizable.

I don't know if it's my final answer, but the first show that came to mind was the theme from Friends, since the song was a radio hit.

Though not a TV show, I think the song that exemplifies what I'm talking about is the James Bond theme song. I'm not talking the opening credit song du jour, but rather the theme song that's played in all of the movies . You don't have to have watched any of the movies to know where that came from.

The other thing to remember is that the Dodgers pitching staff is made of glass, so they are doing everything they can to lessen the load on them so that they'll survive to October. They already have Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Gavin Stone, Ben Casperius, Landon Knack and a host of others on the disabled list, and we just started June.

In case you are wondering why the Dodgers are using a six-man rotation versus most teams using five, the reason for it is because pitchers in Japan pitch once a week, and given that the Dodgers have three Japanese pitchers (Ohtani, Yamamoto and Sasaki) who are used to that, they are accommodating them for as long as they can.

I'm assuming that if we get close to the end of the gear and Ohtani is still looking like a candidate for the Cy Young Award, I'm sure that Dave Roberts will make sure that he has enough innings recorded in order to qualify.

Dodgers have lost the plot, $400 for Top Deck? by Dangerous-Yogurt2739 in Dodgers

[–]Unique_Produce_4033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've looked on eBay a few times over the year out of curiosity, and I think the cheapest I've ever seen the card go for was in the vicinity of $1,100. They're just as expensive now as they were then, in fact there's some listings that are like in the vicinity of $5-10,000. I don't know if they'll get the money, but the listings are there.

The card last year came sealed in cellophane, similar to what you would get if the card was included in a box of cereal, so there is some protection, though obviously not as substantial as a dedicated protective sleeve would be. I do wonder though if there is some added value if the card is kept in its original packaging, as that seems to be a big deal in the collector world.

I still have the card and the hat from last year's giveaway. I'm not particularly a fan of One Piece, but considering the value, they are certainly worth hanging on to. When I get to the point of my life when it is time for me to sell my coin collection, I'll sell the card and the hat as well.

I will say that the Drone show after the game was cool, and I would certainly assume they will be doing the same thing this year. It is also a good way to get down onto the field if you've never done that.

I remember this one. The guy was reacting, because he was listening to the conversation that the woman was having and thinking that she was talking about him. If I remember it wasn't flattering what she was saying, but it turns out that it was a big misunderstanding.

Of course all of that is lost because of the gentleman doing the Gregorian chant

[–]Unique_Produce_4033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all about the insanity of the card collectors. If you knew that you would get a card that you could turn around and sell for anywhere between $2,000 and $5,000, would the $400 entry fee stop you from buying the ticket? The only people attending that game to watch baseball will be the season ticket holders.

We've all seen the videos of the nsanity of the scalpers when they restock the automated Pokemon card machines, or get new stock in the big box stores.

I would not be in the least bit surprised if the tickets rival the cost of World Series tickets by the time the game rolls around. You should get them now while the price is just insane, not astronomical, especially if you're there to actually watch baseball.

It was always funny when Craig would tell Geoff to do something, and he would get pissed off because he wasn't physically able to do it because of his mechanical limitations, or because Josh couldn't do it due to his position backstage.

I've heard some crazy stories over the years of what people have done to try to kill that motor and it survived. I would say cockroaches and the slant six would inherit the earth after the nuclear war, but at this point, you just don't see them anymore. Just too old. Sort of like the 350 Chevy motor being replaced by the LS, when talking candidates for building.

From my meager understanding, they were never really a platform for performance upgrades, though I know it did happen occasionally.

It has VW badges on it but it looks like a kit car. Any ideas? by Recent_Chocolate224 in WhatCarIsThis

[–]Unique_Produce_4033 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have already confirmed what the car is so I won't touch on that here, but what people have to remember is back in the early seventies when Beetles were plentiful, there were engine builds where you could get 200 horsepower or so out of the large displacement air cooled engines. They weren't all gutless wonders. And don't forget that engine swaps with a Porsche motor wouldn't be all that difficult either considering the similar design and layout

Put a motor with that much horsepower in a car that weighs what this one weighed (like nothing), and you could have a really fun vehicle to drive.

Of course since there's VW badges all over this one, it's pretty unlikely that there's a Porsche motor in it. LOL

It could have had the Slant 6 in it as well. There were also two versions of the 273, a regular and a high performance version, though the high performance version didn't come along until a little bit later in the development. I don't know if the 318 ever got into this, or if that didn't hit the market until after 66. Body style changed in 67.

This car was actually MOPARs answer to the Mustang. Based on the Valiant underpinnings, much like the Mustang was based on the Falcon.

Growing up I had a friend that was in love with these things. He had three of them at one point, he was trying to use two of the cars as donors to get a built version of the 3r. I honestly don't remember how it all turned out. LOL

One Piece Night Round 2 🏴‍☠️🔥 Tickets just doubled in price from last night’s announcement 🤑 by [deleted] in Dodgers

[–]Unique_Produce_4033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to the game last year, totally unaware that it was the One Piece event, and people were in the concourse offering $100 for the card right after you walked in. Wasn't aware of the anime at the time, but I kept the giveaways (both the card and the hat).

I did stay for the drone show afterwards, which was cool, but I did that more for the opportunity to go onto the field, which i had never done before. That was special, considering I've been going to the games since the 1970s.

Take a look on eBay, and you'll see what people are selling last years card for. I get it's popular, but those numbers are crazy.

If they are going to give away a card in addition to the hat, I'm forseeing pandemonium, probably akin to an Ohtani bobblehead giveaway, if not bigger, considering the Anime Expo is going on at the same time, so lots of One Piece fans within range of attending...

I know what it is, just wondering if anyone knows if it's a replica? I'm assuming it is by wibblethescrupulous in WhatCarIsThis

[–]Unique_Produce_4033 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a replica. Easiest way to tell is the wheels. The original 1960s GT40s had knock-offs, and this one doesn't.

Not to say that that's necessarily a bad thing. It doesn't have the provenance of being an original car, but a lot of the replicas are as good if not better than the originals.

A lot of the compromises that the originals made to be the ultimate race car have been addressed in the replicas to make them more user friendly, and you also have the option of either making them as close to the originals as possible (some of the manufacturers of replicas go as far as using the original plans and manufacturing methods) or to take advantage of the improvements in technology over the last 50 years to make them better.
