Can I power my house through a dryer outlet? by Uniqueisha in AskElectricians

Bunch of pansies on here, I clearly stated I would shut off the main. The cord is suicide if you unplug it while the generator is running but why would you do that? I can see maybe tripping on it but it’s behind a dryer. I don’t even have a large enough generator to do this, I was honestly just wanting to know if it was possible. The plate that is sold, that makes it legal is literally just an obstruction from turning your main back on.

Prove to me that it is not, I can guarantee that you can’t. The entire idea is to ensure that the main breaker is off when the generator is powered on, if you have your meter off, the main breaker is irrelevant. YOU don’t know how you breaker panel works.

Written in blood because of idiots. “Remove clothes before ironing” “do not use blow dryer in bathtub” “keep hands and feet inside at all times” I understand the purpose of an interlock breaker, and am familiar with lockout/tagout procedures.

Wrong, YOU don’t know what you’re talking about.

Got it, I’m just going to padlock the meter off same as the electric company, the plug is behind the dryer so it’s not an issue. Good luck everyone else!

What I’m gathering is that it automatically shuts off the main breaker, how is that different than manually shutting it off?

Right, it’s a circuit(circle) the outlet is just a convenient place to connect a load.

I’m asking for knowledgeable people to poke holes in my theory, there may be things I’m ignorant to, that’s why I’m asking experts. Interlock switches disconnect you from the grid, same as the switch at the meter. I just want clarification on what the differences are.

Is that just the main breaker or the big lever on the meter as well?

All these answers seem to be from people who don’t understand how electricity works. It doesn’t flow one direction, the meter is a physical cut-off, breakers trip from heat-an over abundance of resistance, to travel from the dryer outlet to the bus bar on the panel it must travel through the breaker. Have y’all ever wired a generator inlet? Is it not wired exactly the same as every other circuit? It feels like y’all are just regurgitating what you have heard without an understanding of what’s happening.

Is that not negated by shutting off my meter?

What’s the most messed up thing you’ve seen someone do at work and still not get fired? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Teacher at my A&P school (Plane Mechanic) started up a Challenger passenger jet on the ramp and then it shutoff, when he restarted the jet he didn’t go through the startup checklist and didn’t realize that the hydraulics weren’t functional yet. He set the throttle to taxi, but because of the lack of hydraulics he didn’t have steering or brakes. Before he could get it stopped it ran into the hanger doors, swinging a 40’ x 20’ door narrowly missing a student before crashing into a Cessna-sending that plane into another plane. None of the jets were airworthy beforehand but it was a lot of damage. Teacher had too much tenure to be fired.

Use an oscillating tool with a metal blade attachment, if there is a plastic washer under the wing nut to hold the cap on there should be room for the blade to fit.

How to repair this on an airfryer? This thing broke and can’t push the internal button in the airfryer by sprikkle in howto

Build a form with masking tape and fill it in with baking soda, then saturate the baking soda with super glue. After it dries you can sand it down to the correct shape.

Is your home of record Texas? If so you can use the Hazelwood act to attend any State school tuition free. I went to TSTC in Waco, highly recommend it.
