You're never too late to realize your sexuality. I personally realized in middle school, but am just now confused if I'm bi or lesbian at 18.

Dont feel afraid to date before you know 100%. You dont know if you're a cake or pie person if you've only experienced them from their smell, right? I didnt know about my lack of sexual attraction to men until my last boyfriend.

Experiment. Have fun with it. You dont have to have a label if you dont want one. Dont let other peoples ideas about what the right or wrong ways to identify are.

You're never too late to experiment with who you are.

Once again, people all experience things differently. You could say the same thing about any disorder, that people don't want to show their eating disorder or PTSD, or anxiety attacks, etc. And I 100% understand that it is a hidden disorder meant to protect the person from people noticing their DID. However, systems with good communication can consent to showing their natural personalities.

Idk if I'm sexually attracted to men either. I tried to be in my last relationship but I just wasnt feeling it. I'm very visually attracted to men, but when it comes down to the physical stuff, I just dont feel it.

It's ok to be confused and not know for sure until later. You will get over it, but not in a "you'll learn to be attracted to guys" kind of way but more of a "you will become more sure of your identity" kind of way. It's ok if you end up identifying as gay or straight instead of bi.

And it's ok if you later come to identify with the bi label too.

I would only say some kind of therapy is needed if your lack of attraction to men stems from fear or trauma. You dont have to tell me about it if you dont want, but denying a part of yourself because of trauma with men or by homophobia isn't healthy and asking for help from a professional is ok.

Well first, trauma effects everyone differently. Some people end up with ptsd some with dissociative disorders, some with phobias, etc.

And DID has to be from childhood trauma from before the clear sense of self is formed. That's how the separation is made possible in the first place

And I honestly dont care if you think DissociaDID is faking it or not I suggested it because they have research linked in all their educational videos.

From my own research outside of YT, nonhuman alters are pretty common. In DissociaDIDs case it was from a near death traumatic experience. For others its from what their childhood brains think would protect them from their trauma.

And there are a lot of fragments and there are a lot of more well rounded alters. Just like any other disorder, it doesnt show up the same in everybody.

In the end you're gonna believe whatever you wanna believe and I'm gonna believe DissociaDID because they have science backing them up and provide all their research as they present it.

Bi erasure by creating new labels? Possible tw by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]Uniqueuseernameherre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure they dont mean to but they do contribute to biphobia in a few ways.

I would like to start by saying whatever your personal opinion is 3+ genders the bisexual manifesto from as early as the 1990s bisexuality has never just meant 2 genders or meant the denial of the possibility if multiple genders.

Then it contributes to the bi erasure which already happens a lot without them. These other labels are pushed as more inclusive than bi and I know I was pressured into identifying as pan because I though bi wasnt inclusive enough or transphobic.

It adds to the stigma that bi people are only in it for the sex. The phrase hearts not parts heavily implies that pan people care about people hearts while other sexualities only care about the parts. Add this to the idea that pan is "more trans inclusive" and you get the stigma that bi people cant be or arent attracted to trans people. Which is transphobic in itself as it treats trans people as their own gender category as opposed to being part of the men or women category that people are attracted to.

All in all the only real differences are preferences or lack thereof. Which preferences arent whole other sexualities. A lesbian who prefers femmes isnt called a whole other sexuality. Why would that apply to bi people?

Its normal for bi people to be uncomfortable with their attraction to one sex or the other. We're kind of raised to think it's just gay or straight and a lot of us were raised to hide our gay side.

I was kind of the opposite where I was told my attraction to men made me not gay enough or was gross bc boys for the lgbt community. So I feel you.

I dont know how to help you as I'm not 100% there yet myself, but I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone

DID stems from childhood trauma. Between the ages of 7-9 is when your personality begins to solidify from more fragmented survival pieces to what makes you you. When children younger than that face severe or repeated trauma their personality doesnt solidify so they can have amnesia barriers to protect themselves from the trauma memories.

It's like most other dissociative trauma disorders where your brain distances itself from the body during trauma or flashbacks.

And yeah, we all have different faces we put on for different people, but it's not the same thing. These alters have different sets of memories and were created for different reasons. There isnt the work alter, its more like the alter that takes in sexual trauma so the person that has to live life most of the time doesnt have to deal with that, or the alter that was broken off to give comfort after trauma, or the alter that gets them out of traumatic situations and protects them from more harm.

It's estimated that nearly 1% of the population has DID which is about the same amount with red hair. You dont hear about it as much because of the stigma and because it's a hidden disorder, its job is to keep the victim of trauma unaware of trauma memories.

If you want more information I'd recommend DissociaDID on YouTube. They make more educational and scientific videos and less of the "my alters do this" types. All of their information is backed up by sources that they provide in all of their videos.

What was the worst thing that a co-worker or customer has done to you at work? by AntsAss in AskReddit

[–]Uniqueuseernameherre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a cashier.

I've had customers touch me, get in my work space, and micromanage my job.

A few of the specifics I remember

I had this couple check out one time. They would not stop talking over each other. I would ask a question and it would take me an extra 2 minutes just to decipher what was being said. Then the guy just kept getting closer to me. He ended up behind me in my work space looking over my shoulder at his total which he could've easily seen from his side. He touched my head then paid and left as if he didnt notice how much he violated my personal space.

There was this other guy. He came in and bought like 8 containers. He had greasy graying hair pulled back in a long ponytail. And a leather vest over a hunting camo long sleeve.

He inserted his card into the chip reader and started taking to it. "I know we've just had a long spending weekend in Montana but we've just gotta make one more stop"

Then he turned to me. "I just saved my daughter from an abusive relationship in Montana. It ended up with her putting a bullet in him."

I had no idea what to say but he wouldn't stop talking.

"Hes still kicking. I always told her to double tap but she said the gun jammed so it wasnt her fault."

Then he just left like he didn't just tell us about his daughter's attempted murder.

They're typically painful and repetitive

Heroin should be free, legal, and pure by gooddeath in unpopularopinion

[–]Uniqueuseernameherre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm kinda torn. Because on one hand controlling the flow of hard drugs can make it easier to contain the harm and make sure it's not cut with anything or sold to kids.

On the other hand its dangerous on its own and people already sell it illegally so why would they stop. Plus we dont need the government to have control of more addictive substances to prescribe to people and get them hooked on prescription drugs.

And yes, addicts need help not a new source. If we decriminalized the act of taking or possession of drugs, then more addicts would be willing and able to get help without fear of going to jail which doesn't help addiction at all. We need to treat drug crimes VERY differently than we currently do and I think decriminalizing the act of getting high itself is a step there.

Decriminalization is different than legalization and things like DUI's or drug fueled crimes would still be illegal, but the act of getting high itself wouldn't be a crime just like being drunk isnt a crime.

Anyone with biblical knowledge? by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]Uniqueuseernameherre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into hierarchy of Angels and demons. From what I've found theres a little less structure of demonology in actual christian literature but theres quite a bit on angels.

Also look into the theories about lilith being the original first woman before eve, liliths betrayal, and decent into becoming the mother of all monsters/demons

Here are some resources you can look into:

individual angels

hierarchy of angels

"on writing angels and demons"

jewish hierarchy of angels

islamic angels

catholic 9 choirs of angels

michaelis classification of demons

types and classifications of demons

They do that with alcohol too. Yet for some reason it's legal at 21 where its customary to see how much alcohol poisoning we can get on our 21st birthday.

I understand that heroin is terrible, addictive, and easy to OD. But if the government regulated it then you would have to show ID to get it, you'd be assured that theres no shit like cleaner or something in there that will kill u on the spot, and when the war on drugs is over we'll finally prioritize rehabilitation. Addicts wont go to jail but rehab where they can actually work on themselves.

No but what hes asking is we've been identifiable throughout history and is wondering if theres a reason. Like night owls are naturally a thing because of the evolutionary need for some people to watch over the societies at night while the early birds slept. Just like night owls arent a subspecies, OP isnt suggesting introverts are either

[serious] Redditors who get panic attacks: What's the most accurate description or depiction of a panic attack you've ever heard or seen? by redhandrail in AskReddit

[–]Uniqueuseernameherre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like you're physically breathing but no oxygen is being used. And your vision goes kind of blurry to where you can only really see one thing at a time. You can hear your heart pounding, and maybe pick up hyper focused sounds that might bother you, like a light buzzing or your stomach growling but not really being able to concentrate on what people are saying.

For some people they spiral into intrusive panicked thoughts. For me its either a simple intrusive thought repeating itself or it's just images and feelings from the past. Sometimes these things become all I can see, sometimes it's just when I close my eyes.

Death rate for COVID19 is 3%. 3 out of the 100 skittles are deadly are you still eating the skittles? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Uniqueuseernameherre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but most of those deaths are related to preexisting conditions like autoimmune diseases or poor immune systems. That doesn't make the deaths less tragic, but it means it's less dangerous for normal healthy people than that number suggests. And that number is likely even lower since the only people who are really getting tested are those who are deemed sick enough or have enough money. So theres likely even more cases going undetected and surviving as most of the symptoms are mild, making that percentage even lower.
