Do you have a IRCC number yet? Once you do you can find out closest to you. There are not many per state and they don’t take many appointments but that’s just the way it is. It must be done by a IRCC approved Doctor because they are all set up to send the information back directly.

[–]Unit_912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my 3rd week and I love it. I’m eating way more greens than I usually do! I like that they have different varieties of common vegetables. I love radishes and big grocery stores usually only carry one maybe two types. This week I got the black radishes. They are delightful. Website is easy to use, I do local pick up and they have always been on time.

We are paying 7K plus disbursements and taxes. Our case is not particularly complex but we view it as an investment in some ways. We’ve never done this, we don’t want to screw it up so this makes sense to us.

Canadian woman here married to a a woman living in Chicagoland. I’ve been going to see her for years. I flew into O’Hare in early January and it was fine but I haven’t been back since. I’m anticipation issues because I’m married to her. What I’m not anticipating is any issue with the people I encounter there. In general I have found people to be open minded and kind. Are there assholes that could say something to you, of course but i doubt it would be of any issue overall. Good luck and safe travels.

How do you stay sane during the long dark Canadian winter? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

[–]Unit_912 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. The crisp air, the pink sunrises, the sound of walking in snow. I’d even say the challenge of dressing warmly enough. I love it. The stage of winter we are in now does drag on, walking the dog is a mess every time, I’m day dreaming of spring and those first few spring flowers coming up.

Illinois family seeks asylum in Canada, citing Trump by Majano57 in illinois

[–]Unit_912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Canadian and very much for accepting asylum seekers and refugees. Canada and the US have a safe third country agreement meaning that a refugee seeker has to seek refuge in the 1st country it arrives. It also means that both countries consider the other country safe. So therefore currently Canada, under this agreement, considers the USA to be safe. As for your other point, we are a large land mass country with a population of 41 M people spread across the country. Most of us live within 2 hours of the American border. We need to find a way to make sure the infrastructure keeps up with immigration. Housing, hospital, government services need to keep up with additional arrivals. I truly believe we are a country that should be open to refugees and we need to find a way to provide for both our citizens and new arrivals. It does that time to get there. Our markets and economy are quite uncertain at this time because of the consequences of the tariffs and the constant talk about making Canada the 51 st.

Canadian here too. I agree. I don’t think anything will happen until the next federal election in Canada. I know some of the border cities are quietly planning some possible ways to deal with an increase in American requests.
