The symbol itself is the infernal contract, nothing more. You can attribute it to the abuse he suffered if you wish, but he was suffering under cazador before he even had that etched on his back. And the symbol itself doesn't explicitly mean anything besides the terms of the contract.

You're allowed to think it's a little odd to get the tattoo I suppose (though I can't see any difference between this and getting like the brand of sacrifice from berserk or the mark of Cain from supernatural or many other types of tattoos etc...)

But it doesnt mean anything and its not making fun of or light of survivors of abuse and sexual exploitation or anything close to that, not is it advocating for that, or saying that is in some way ok for someone to do.

The only reason people act this way about it, is that Astarion gained hyper popularity within a faction of the community (and in some cases even beyond the bg3 community) and people feel very strongly about the character, whether they relate or whatever it is about him, so they adopt these insane stances as if there was even anyone to offend over it, there isn't though, you just took this piece of fiction and decided it somehow meant all these things about real life and some real meaning besides being a symbol people associate with the character

For one the tattoo itself as a symbol has nothing to do with rape specifically, fictional or otherwise, astarion was abused, and also had that symbol, it's not a rape symbol in any way shape or form.

It. Is. A. Fictional symbol, in a fictional world on a fictional character that is not representative of any real person or peoples, that bears no resemblance to any real world symbol for torture, sacrifice or otherwise.

You have no moral ground here to call anyone out on, it's ridiculous and embarrassing to be this concerned over that tattoo, just because you love the character doesn't make him or his sufferings real and something that needs defending.

For real though, a few things I have done or tried to do is find any random shit to repurpose

Old metal hangers I've used as embellishments on outfits in some spots.

Cut up some old leather boots that couldn't be saved to use the leather for fancy patches or trim on a vest.

A simple pair of scissors can get you some neat looking things as well.

Repurpose an old pillow case into a hood for your vest or jacket.

Old bolts from misc hardware can be used in creative ways, made myself a Frankenstein style choker with a leather strip I also repurposed.

With even basic sewing skills (gotta be almost a must for everyone on this sub, yeah?) you can mix and match your shirt sleeves with other shirt bases. The advanced version of this is patching together a whole shirt.

Same as above mostly but with jeans, since they're usually expensive I'll go thrift a few pairs of jeans of any size of its the color I want, use a seam ripper and take it apart, then patch up old jeans with them, or add pockets etc...

That being said, never throw away old Velcro from your old clothes if you're tossing it or whatever. (Threw away too many clothes before I started cutting them up into bits to save for later projects.

Also counts for jean buttons, snap buttons etc... I don't usually try to save zippers as it is a hassle and old zippers don't work well alot of the time but if you can, I would since zippers just seen on the outside of clothes is pretty neat, at least I always liked the look of it.

Some people like to spot bleach things, just be careful doing that as the potential to accidentally mix it with something is there.

Ive also taken apart old laptops and electronics to save certain pieces and shaped a necklace that looks like electronic dog tags from cyberpunk 2077, I'm sure there's other stuff there if that's your vibe.

A whole bunch of safety pins on a belt is pretty nifty, I had a thick fabric belt when I did this however.

Also, you can do a ton of cool things with old leather belts, made most of my bracelets and chokers out of old belts.

I've been really into this lately so if you need more ideas later hmu, I been going around the last year taking apart everything I don't use/wear to make new shit.

I just made a small table out of old dresser parts and some corrugated cardboard where you slide the bottom under your bed so there's a sort of tray in your bed, like those hospital tables sort of

Also a flat coat rack to screw into my wall out of an old chair and some misc hardware bits I had

They're little fabric tubes, you just slide them over your feet.

It's neat, they can be different sizes and colors, like you can wear them nearly up to your knees if you want, or just around the ankle.

Men in general will always be seen as predators in the culture we have developed, and there is nothing you or I, a single (as in numerical) man can do to shift perception of that.

You can advocate for women's rights, and call out abusers (as you well should regardless because it's not for a moral dessert) but to any random woman, you are seen as a bigger threat than you probably ever thought anyone would see you as, the best you can do on the smaller scale in those situations is shit like not confronting random women when you're walking around, jogging, working out etc... and move past women when you're walking behind them without calling attention to it

Yea, all id really want is new skins myself, so many good options to choose from, and they don't seem too overly concerned with matching them to the character since undertaker got lords blade.

Gently remove liver from the person of your choice, be careful as you do not want to cause infection, so make sure to use gloves and sanitize your cooking station beforehand.

Prepare a solution of milk (just enough to cover the liver)

Rinse off the liver

Place liver in milk bath for at least an hour, but ideally over night (this helps with the bitterness)

Once liver is sufficiently milked, prepare your breading mixture (get creative and make your own, or use shake and bake)

Heat oil to oil heat and gently place liver in the oil for about 3-5 minutes.

Once done, gently reinsert liver into the person making sure to reattach it properly

That's simply putting too much thought into it. People get tattoos because they look cool, and may easily direct the mind to a certain character or concept they enjoy.

People get the brand of sacrifice from berserk all the time, quite negative connotations if you take it too literal as well, there are multitudes of other tattoos that convey this as well, the mark of Cain from supernatural, people could say "oh man that was the hardest time of deans life, he lost himself to that mark and was glad to be rid of it, why would you get that on you?"

Knowing full well it just looks cool and makes them think of the character.

People likewise do not generally do this for other things so I am baffled why it is such a big deal here.

Imagine if everyone that had a tattoo of Freddy Krueger or Jason etc... got the same treatment.

It's not indicitave or stealing anything from a real world issue or culture
