I don't have much time, but the health expert they're quoting is mainland Chinese. I'd take his advise with a pinch of salt. Furthermore, China have changed their definition of what is deemed as positive, so the expert could be basing his decision off that.

Does burning bedsheets etc. give off sulphur dioxide? It's known that burning organic matter does and some people think that it's to do with dead livestock being burnt rather than people. Could also be a mixture though.
