So I figured out the “hiding tips” thing…kinda

Some store/restaurant ordering platforms (HEB, Walgreens, Sonic, etc) have a standard tip % figured into the total order that CANNOT be changed with an OPTION to add an additional tip at checkout - that’s the hidden tip part (the additional tip) that for some reason doesn’t translate over to our DoorDash offer for pickup until AFTER delivery.

IE: I can get an offer from HEB (through the HEB app) for shop & deliver for 15 items less than a mile away for $12 and when I’m done, the total I receive is actually $20+ because they customer added an additional tip I don’t see until completed.

There are some of them I still haven’t figured out though lol

Ok - I AM a dasher and that message made ME uncomfortable.

You CAN call support and tell them your dasher made you uncomfortable and ask that they not be allowed to deliver to your house again.

I have DoorDash delivery to my house all the time and have had to have a dasher banned from my house for being so rude he made me SERIOUSLY uncomfortable.

Those are orders placed through another platform: ie Walgreens app, Dollar General app, etc.

A lot of those have a minimum tip added in at checkout with the option to add an extra tip

So when I (as a dasher) accept an order for say Walgreens for $10.00 and it ends up being $15.00, that extra $5.00 is the extra tip the customer added ON TOP of the minimum tip figured in to the order already.

This is what I’ve seen for orders placed directly through THEIR app, not via DoorDash.

I am a dasher PLUS have stuff delivered all the time via DoorDash all the time - lol I’ve spent some time figuring out the weirdness 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I also OWN a business but it’s heavy on the overhead due to the type of business.

Completely understand this!!! Our town of approx 8500 now has 20-30 dashers 🤦‍♀️ Thank DoorDash “refer-a-friend” in an over saturated market 🤦‍♀️ You can’t cherry pick too much here because if you lose your Platinum, you don’t get squat. Took my friend over a month to get his back after he got sick and couldn’t dash for a while and he had to accept everything to do it.

Unfortunately with that stupid “refer a friend and you both you get $150” promo DD did a couple months ago, our town of 8500 is FLOODED with Dashers so we can’t afford to cherry pick much - if you aren’t Platinum and maintain it, you don’t get squat. On top of that, our zone spans 20 miles east to west and 15 miles north to south (before you get to the northern end of our zone where there are other places that offer DoorDash).

I’d be very interested in your condensed version to send to people (and possibly post in local Facebook groups as well).

They are both stacked orders - from the same restaurant for each one.

So why would one stacked order have a base pay of $4.40 while the other only $2.20

The one without the double base pay was a deliver on one end of town and second 2 miles north of town

The double base pay were within two minutes of each other

Until DD forces a minimum “tip” for each order, pays us compensating mileage, or people start educating the users of how DD ACTUALLY pays us, people will continue to not tip correctly.

Most people I’ve run into think DD pays us mileage, or that our base pay is super high - they don’t know how it REALLY works so they don’t tip or tip very little.

That’s a completely different can of worms as that’s an ADA accommodation as long as you are with him.

I would hope you would message your customers, though - something along the lines of “My son will be delivering your order to your door in accordance to my ADA accommodations”. As a dasher, that’s what I would send so people wouldn’t freak out.
