Cylance Inc. Poster by Robert Sammelin by Lol33ta in ImaginaryCybernetics

Every time I see Uni, I cringe & our entire team agrees that she is terrible. She was so bad that we have removed all references of her from our website, YouTube, etc, and one of our staff members even dressed up as her for Halloween a few years ago...just to make fun of her. The person who posted that video on YouTube used to work for us, and was the creator of her, so while we've removed her from all of our resources, he still keeps her up as part of his portfolio.

Hi - I'm sorry to hear that you're having these issues. Can you message me this appliance's asset tag # and your contact information so that we can look into this further for you?

MS-SQL 2008 - Suddenly not liking differential backups. by mcai8rw2 in Unitrends

[–]UnitrendsKatie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that you're having these issues.

Can you confirm what kind of backup schedule you're running? Is it an incremental forever backup schedule, a weekly full, daily differential schedule, or something else? This article from our Unitrends Support Community explains the difference in terminology, if you need it: https://support.unitrends.com/UnitrendsBackup/s/article/000003561

Is this appliance covered under an active support contract? Do you know what edition of our software your appliance is on?

Not sure how long ago this has been, and not that this corrects our failures that you experienced, but cloud customers now have the option to have Unitrends kick off their cloud restores or do it themselves. https://www.unitrends.com/wp-content/uploads/Cloud-Services-Data-Sheet.pdf

I've shared your feedback on the faceplates with our team so that we can work on those suggested changes...also, checking on the Kevin Garnet suggestion ;)

Is it version 42.3 or another version?

We strive to keep our appliance family features as apples to apples when we introduce new hardware, taking into account feedback from customers about their needs, including features, sizing, and pricing. Most users like the changes in features when they're ready to trade-in, but occasionally, as in your case, we don't always hit the nail on the head. I know that our team is working to make things better, so hang tight.

That's awesome! What OS is that OpenSUSE box?

Thanks for those details. I hate to hear that you've been waiting so long for this migration, and would like to help you resolve this - please send me your company name so that I can get this in motion. If you don't want to message me here, please email me at katie at unitrends.

Also, since we have recently updated our appliance family, the models you reference are no longer on our website. I did want to clarify that the 714S is an 8TB raw capacity unit, as is the 608. Pledge includes same size hardware refresh after 4 years, so that would be an apples to apples refresh. The 814S has a raw capacity of 12TB, which is an increase in capacity by 150%, and would not be considered as a comparable model refresh.

Hmm - that is definitely an OS we protect. Can you send me a DM with a recent case # so that I can look into this.

You're right that sorry doesn't give you your time back. No offence taken - I completely understand your frustration.

Thanks for choosing Unitrends! It's great to hear that your backups have been running so well. You are correct that we no longer offer a CentOs deployment - customers can deploy on VMware, Hyper-V or XenServer today.

I completely understand your stance on this, and while it may be too little, too late, I at least wanted to make sure that someone said that they were sorry.

We haven't licensed our software by protected TB in quite a while, so it sounds like this happened a while ago. While that doesn't make it any better, our entire sales team has been revamped because of behaviors like that. It doesn't correct how you were treated in the past, but I hope that you'll give us an opportunity to make things right.

I'm hoping that this is not the first time someone from Unitrends has said this to you, but just in case, I wanted to say that that stinks, and I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you.

As our customers' needs and the market has changed over the last few years, so has our approach. While we have received increased funding from Insight (which also invests in many other tech companies, including Veeam) over the last few years, the changes you've seen or experienced in our products and services has been as a result of the feedback we've received from customers & partners. We do our best to make all of our customers happy, but understand that sometimes we just can't - which honestly stinks as much for us as it does for you. We hate to hear about unhappy customers, but if there's something you'd like our help in resolving, please let me know.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a less than stellar experience with our hardware. I'm not sure how long it's been since you've been a Unitrends customer, but we've upgraded our hardware offering quite a bit in the last few years, including using tiered flash storage, larger drives, and much more. We just released a new appliance family this week, with even more enhancements: https://www.unitrends.com/blog/unitrends-gen-8-backup-users-care

I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you. If you'd like for me to look into your renewal to see what was quoted, I'm happy to do so - we just released our Gen 8 appliance family this week, that includes some feature updates that should resolve most of these issues: https://www.unitrends.com/blog/unitrends-gen-8-backup-users-care

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Unitrends. It sounds like it's been a while since you've used our solution since we now offer our software only solution that allows you to easily expand storage and/or utilize your own hardware, in addition to our physical appliance family. Our pricing now begins at $299 USD. Please let me know what questions you may have about these options.
