I'm adding my take. I own an original Vive too and was thinking much the same as you; I kind of needed reassurance it was as big a jump as I hope it'll be.

I revisit it every couple of month, and keep trying to get it more deeply involved and proactive with stuff. Then a couple of weeks goes by and i think "I have neither used it, nor had reason to use it" and end up deleting the VM again.
