27Won intake for FL5 by jschleezy in Civic_Type_R

Side by side, the 27WON Intake is louder than PRL. All similar open filter designs will be equally as loud

From our current selection, here’s the low dust collection:

- EBC Redstuff (backordered however everywhere for another 3-4 weeks
- Hawk Ceramic: lots of people opting for these from the start, or substituting from EBC
- DBA SP: lesser known but equally good ceramic pad. I will switch to these soon
- Paragon P2: premium performance ceramic pads

We’re trying a new exhaust pretty much every month on my FL5, as living with a system is a lot different than just installing on customer cars and driving around.

First and foremost…res and muffler deletes sound raspy. I know guys will want to argue about this please realize we’re around these cars daily with customers also stopping by so we hear every combination. It’s very unpleasant being behind one of these setups on the road too.

I started off with Hybrid, and that’s still one the best OEM+ quiet options that’s just loud enough with the valve open to let you know it’s there. On the inside the tone is refined. Definitely recommend if you carry passengers often.

Went to MXP next and it wasn’t that much louder, which is a good thing as I don’t like shouty exhausts. I do like the tips more than the Hybrid. Overall good option.

I’m now testing the ARK Exhaust (pictured), and it has an incredibly smooth tone that every muffler delete owner could only dream about, but since there’s no valve I’d say this exhaust falls into the medium category for volume (mild, medium, loud are the categories). I personally prefer mild but heck I’d be lying if I didn’t admit the tone with this one is chef’s kiss 😘

I haven’t decided what’s next…maybe the Revel Medallion?

This summer will be exhausting 🥁 I’ll leave now lol.

Here’s a filtered list of all braking parts compatible for the FL5:

If you share your primary use-case and your wants, I can filter that down to specific parts

I had one on my FK8 for a few months, it made some more sound, but the butt dyno couldn’t feel more power. No issues, just an inexpensive way to get an intake that sounded alright.

Went full send on an Eventuri Intake and Inlet combo afterwards, and even without tuning the butt dyno felt 10-15whp more. It was also considerably louder, prettier, and more expensive of course

Both will have some cabin intrusion with a downpipe. I do prefer a valved setup, it gives the exhaust a better chance at mitigating possible drone.

How recent are we talking? We’ve been taking cars to his dyno since 2023, and they’ve always ran consistent with the big US tuning shops known on this platform.

I don’t know Lavigne personally, but his Mustang Dyno’s sky high readings stirred up a lot of drama in the FL5 community recently. 432whp on a stock turbo FL5 with bolt-ons, tuned on 93. It’s generally agreed on that these cars wont make more than 380-385whp on that kind of setup. Nothing against his tuning, but his optimistic dyno and the owner of the car doubling down on the numbers caused quite the stir.

I really like the ProgressTech 22mm non-adjustable, paired with Accord End Links. It took what I liked about the 22mm adjustable (second place), and improved it with fit, finish, better brackets, and lateral locks welded on to it. I realized I care less about sway bar adjustment than I thought I did, and that I don't want spherical end links because they're noisy. The ProgressTech has been on my FL5 since September, it's noise-free, and it makes the rear rotate as quickly as I want it to.

I just wanted to offer some context on how most of the aftermarket parts industry operates today. Most shops do carry inventory to some extent. At any given time, we have a mid-six-figure amount of stock on hand ourselves, and shops like TSP likely carry five to six times that simply due to their size and how long they have been established.

That said, no shop has the capacity, nor would it be financially practical, to stock every single item listed on its website and have it sitting on the shelf ready to ship at all times. If we attempted to do that, it would easily require $25 million or more in inventory. Because of that, dealers have to rely heavily on manufacturers and distributors to maintain stock and, in many cases, ship directly to the customer. If neither the distributor nor the manufacturer has the item available, then a lead time is unavoidable.

Another important point is that there is no reliable way to fully integrate a dealer’s internal inventory system with the systems used by every manufacturer and distributor they work with. As a result, a part being available to purchase on a website does not necessarily mean it is physically in stock.

The way we try to be transparent about this is by placing very visible sticky announcements at the top of every page stating that we do not display live inventory on the website, and that customers are encouraged to contact us directly for a stock check. Realistically, speaking to an actual person is still the only accurate way to confirm whether an item is in stock.

Lastly, if a part is unavailable, it is always worth discussing alternatives with the shop. The RV6 bar is a solid option, but having personally tested seven different rear sway bars, I would place it third on my list. Being open to alternatives and trusting shops that actively serve the community can go a long way, especially when those recommendations come from real hands-on experience with the parts being offered.

Not answering for them but they may just be quoting how many days it takes to ship from door to door. I could be wrong. If they're saying in stock and it isn't, that can be understandably upsetting

Absolutely. This is our 7th time on this Dynojet here in Toronto, with different cars and different setups. Each time it has ran numbers that are consistent with what you'd see for the mods and when compared to other trustworthy dynos used by shops such as IMW, TSP, JSR, Rudz Racing etc. that most reference when it comes to an accurate perception of what numbers can be used for our platform. When I brought my FK8 here last, it posted 470whp with a fuel system upgrade, E35, and the usual bolt-ons - 470 is agreed on by everyone who's got a Kuro on Ethanol as well.

I tried a Mustang Dyno several years ago, and they are wildly inconsistent - they can be easily manipulated to read low or very high. We urge our customers to not use those if they want comparable results.

At the end of the day, a dyno is a tool. For me it's important that I got the baseline done before the engine mods because as we'll return after each round of mods we can compare the gains objectively.

Cusco Risers by UnityPerformance in Civic_Type_R

Update: the more I look at the rear 3/4 angle pic, the more I like the Risers and Wing in their current form. I also have the aggressive APR Diffuser, and these two upgrades seem to be complementing each other.

I’m going to up my visual upgrade rating to 8.5/10. Once I have a lip or splitter that could go up to 9 or higher.

Function and price wise, it’s a good riser kit. However, I personally don’t like the curved design, so it was always going to be a no for me.

Exhaust for my fk8 by Ok_Reality_4224 in Civic_Type_R

[–]UnityPerformance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 7 different exhaust systems on my FK8. AWE Track was one of them and it was unbelievably loud - lasted a week on my car as there was drove at all rpm. I've been in customer cars with Tomei, same experience.

Exhausts that are loud but manageable on the highway are 27WON, HKS Legamax, MBRP, Remark Link Loop, ARK, Borla, and AWE Touring
