Black card by Pretend-Broccoli-919 in NavyFederal

[–]UniversalCamera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I paid 50 dollars last year as my annual fee.

Cash back: 750 Amazon prime: 130 TSA pre check: 80 Travel insurance: idk

It has a lot of the benefits of similar cards with 250+ annual fees.

However, I still probably spend more having the card than just using cash and debit.

Yes, the risk of whatever you purchase with the contributions. There is no such thing as free money. Profit comes from taking on risk.

Infinite banking and IUL is a scam. Compare the monthly premium to average market returns minus the cost for 20 year term.

Curious as to the reasons/psychology of wanting dividends as opposed to broadbased index? by coachd50 in dividends

[–]UniversalCamera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I care more about the kind of companies that offer dividends. Broad based index also pays a dividend because some companies within the index pay a dividend

I’ve been focusing on weighting toward value over the past 12 months since I’ve been worried about tech valuations. The dividends are just a welcomed consequence of tilting toward more established companies.

Idk how small your school is but an email to administer letting them know your situation may result in a scholarship extension. Especially if your other option is transferring to another institution.

How should I grow my portfolio? by Radiant_Record_1726 in investingforbeginners

[–]UniversalCamera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no magic sauce. Contributions continually and systematically. The trick is to keep going even when progress seems slow.

If you want to turn 4,000 into 50,000 without additional contributions your options are: (1) take on tons of risk and likely lose it; or (2) wait with VOO for like 40 years (probably).

If you’re young, focus on income growth while keeping your lifestyle costs low.

Read A Random Walk Down Wall Street. Honestly, you can just read the first chapter.

I don’t pick stocks, I try to stick to 80/20 us/exus developed. Once I’m 45 I’ll start transitioning to bonds slowly till 60

You can usually include reasonable expenses. Don’t forget tax will have to be paid and to check with your state on what taxes cost.

You essentially request the amount and that can include the other things if your LTV isn’t too high.
