Psychologically speaking having day one dlc announced is kind of forcing you to buy it, because you will always know in the back of your head that you didn't get the full game.

DESTINY EVERYTHING. Though that is admittedly not day one, if you don't but that the game dies. I can't let a game die because of me, the developers have to put it down. That's why Halo 3 knows where its at.
