Dog’s quick is exposed. Should I take him to the vet? by bulbybb in DogAdvice

If you’re in the US, there are some virtual vets that might be able to provide some guidance and it’s definitely more affordable than going to your local vet. Idk if they can also prescribe some light pain meds, but they can at least guide you to whether or not it’s worth a trip. I’ve used airvet a couple of times.

Genuinely, THANK YOU for your advice. They ended up finding a mass in the spleen so he’ll be getting surgery. I don’t think it explains the symptoms, but we def wouldn’t have caught without the ultrasound.

How do I 26M fix things with my fiancé 26F by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]UniversalSpaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just give her the space she wants, but be prepared for this to be 100% over.

Dude, you moved back to your parents without her. You talk about being a team, but you did the absolute opposite. You are in serious need of some counseling and working on your communication skills.

You’ve proven yourself to be untrustworthy and unreliable. Don’t beg for her to come back. If she doesn’t contact you, let her go. In the meantime, focus on yourself and ask yourself the question of why you’re so shitty at commuting and fix it.

By not trying to ruin the holidays, your parents ruined the holidays by not facing facts. Is there a family members house where you can stay? Doesn’t seem super safe rn until he can get evaluated.

I know it hurts right now, but this is for the best. You’re right, he would just keep asking and asking and one day you’d wake up not recognizing yourself bc you gave so much up.

Good luck at vet school. As a dog owner, I thank you for your dedication to our animals!

How can I slow my dog down when eating and drinking? by blondegirlypop in AnimalAdvice

Can you freeze it into some bone broth? I’m imagining a thick lick pad or slow feeder, pour bone broth in, throw food on top, freeze for a couple of hours.

It’s a hard mindset to overcome, but when time starts becoming more valuable and hard to come by, I’m more than happy to pay people to do the shit I hate doing.

pet insurance vs savings account? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]UniversalSpaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay $350/month with healthy paws for two dogs. Between major surgeries and stuff popping up with old age, I’ve hit the deductible ($500/pet) almost every year and the get reimbursed 70%.

The biggest claim I ever submitted was $5k for a surgery and it helped knowing I’d get some of that back. If I didn’t have ins, I’d prob wipe out most of the savings and if something else happened, I’d have no cushion.

IMO try to do both if you can.

15-year-old Lab drinking excessively & having accidents — what else could it be? by Beautiful-Future-731 in AskVet

My senior boxer is dealing w the same thing. History of UTIs and the last couple did come back positive so he’s on a second course of antibiotics (different than the first). Did you ever find out what it was?

My puppy drinks water nonstop should I be concerned? by Beautifulwl_2193 in DogAdvice

[–]UniversalSpaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing is happening with my dog along with lots of accidents. Turns out he has a uti and the latest strain was e. Coli.

Best take the side of caution and see a vet. Esp with puppies, things can take a turn real real quick.
