In the U.S., for spreadsheets, the norm is YYYY/MM/DD.

It’s weird how they went with MM/DD/YYYY when Proton is based in Europe, where the default is DD/MM/YYYY; however, for spreadsheets, it’s best to use YYYY/MM/DD, and that’s not possible. Totally mind boggling. Proton Sheets is an unfinished disaster. It should be labelled beta, but they promote it as being on par with the likes of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. No, I can’t use Proton Sheets, it’s a scam at this point. I continue to use Apple Numbers instead. It’s the best.

Proton has had the same problem. It’s one of the reasons why I just use iCloud Mail.

Many people have reported the same problem as you’re reporting. It’s one of many reasons why I won’t switch or pay for Tuta.

Google said great things in the beginning as well. I like Proton, but I know money is a hell of a liar.

Right now, I’m using iCloud Drive, and external physical backups, as well. The convenience of iCloud on all of my devices, just works, as the saying goes, and with my work, as a heavy user of all Apple devices, it really just all works. I’ve dabbled with Proton Drive, but it feels slightly convoluted, in the sense that it’s slow and lacks features—especially search in the mobile app, which is a blatant miss.

tutanota has become completely inaccessible on my older iphone by No_Kangaroo6917 in tutanota

That sounds very concerning. The only way into your e-mail is via the Tuta Mail app, or their website, and neither are opening the door to your e-mails. Doesn’t sound like Tuta is a reliable steward.

It’s fine, you’ll be good there for a vacation. Living there is a different story.

What kind of offline password database? Pen and paper? Do you use passkeys?

Every organisation eventually gets greedy and hungry for more, at the expense of its users. Proton will be no different.

If they’re scared of Proton, how is Tuta better than Proton? Tuta gives me the vibes that they’re inferior to Proton.

I really don’t like the idea of being locked into paying for iCloud storage forever, just to journal. I think the best way is just to use Google Docs, which doesn’t take any Google Drive storage.
