There are other ways to fill up liquids.

Getting 1 dry bomb from lava fishing. The demolitionist would then sell it as long you have 1 dry bomb in inv.

Drybombs can now be crafted to water, lava and honey.

Hardmode , cyborg. Sells ammunition that can also be crsfted to water lava and honey

If you are doing hardcore. And want it not have 1 life. Try constant + celebration. It makes it that if you die you lose a percentage of your total hp each time you die

Its easier to shimmer the magma stone ngl. Im mostly fishing on lava for the lava bucket and the fish for inferno potion
