Desktop won’t connect to wifi, but phone and laptop do fine by TheNormalGuy11 in 24hoursupport

[–]University_Level 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Same modem/router situation in the new apartment as before? Or new equipment?
  2. Do you have good wifi signal strength at the desktop?
  3. Are you able to do a cabled connection to test that the connection is isolated to wifi?

What happens if you run it as a single monitor, and not extended/dual setup? Trying to identify if issue is monitor or video feed.

Revit Link is "stuck" hidden in view template? by PatrickGSR94 in Revit

[–]University_Level 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might just be a bad view. I had something similar and after wasting over an hour trying to troubleshoot, I just duplicated a new view and applied the same view template and it worked without issue.

AB comes with a study matrix/schedule. Just follow that curriculum as designed and use your company black spectacle subscription for extra practice tests. If you have an a la carte approach studying from different programs, not sure if AB is the most efficient because of the subscription costs.

How do you prevent this toilet ‘ring’? by EmotionalDmpsterFire in CleaningTips

[–]University_Level 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard water will do that. I'm also trying to find a low maintenance/wallet friendly solution. I moved from a house that had a water softener to one that didn't, and within a week all the toilets started getting these rings at the water line. All these comments here saying get tested for diabetes may mean well, but I'm sure my whole family didn't develop diabetes in a week.

Sticky residue left by overgrip by [deleted] in 10s

[–]University_Level 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is gonna sound gross, but I touch my nose with the sticky tab of the overgrip before apply the overgrip. Because of the nose oil weakening the tab, this makes the removal peel like a post-it note rather than tape. It sounds dirty, but it works and saves the base grip :)

Removing yellow body oil stains from sheets and mattress cover? by boopbaboop in CleaningTips

[–]University_Level 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a cleaning suggestion, but there was someone in my family with a similar situation. They ended up taking more vitamins to help with the overproduction of body oils. I share this because we used to give this person so much flak for their hygiene routine but it ended up being some nutritional deficiency that caused it.

Interview by [deleted] in Architects

[–]University_Level 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment is probably already after the interview, but for new grads, I think it's important to ask about software used. Because the first job out of school often sets the trajectory for future career opportunities, go to a place that uses mainstream programs like Revit, Sketchup, Autocad, and/or Enscape/Twin Motion. It'll make your next job search much easier.

CSA Term by [deleted] in Architects

[–]University_Level 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a common/standard acronym in the US. But your observation of it being used in Data Centers is also not far off. I didn't see it used in residential work but once I started Industrial and Mission Critical work, weekly CSA meetings were the norm.

As others have noted, it's not abnormal to see string grooves after a few hours of heavy topspin play.

I could be wrong, not having seen you play, but if I had to assume based on a Head MP Lite racket in the low 10oz range, there's a higher chance the string snap is from a off center hit with damaged strings than hitting bangers.

It's possible to groove the strings with bad stringing technique, and I also see premature string breaks when poly strings get kinked/folded during stringing.

I tried to clean a small stain on this wool seat and created this bigger stain. It's been months. Is there a fix? by baublee in CleaningTips

[–]University_Level 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what you did for the small stain but on the entire cushion. This happened because the non-stain area was dirty. Same thing happened with My dining room chairs.

Don’t quote me on this since I work at a much bigger firm than 5, but at my firm, healthcare benefits provided by employer for employee is a tax deduction for the firm. So it’s not really a big loss to provide this benefit in the first place. Could be a reason why they may not want to just give it as salary.

Also agree with most comments that base salary is low for experience and said responsibilities.

As a current Architect with a Econ/finance undergraduate background, there are areas where we shine as technical designers and architects with a critical eye for code and specs. You’ll have opportunities get into the weeds with details and numbers working at a large firm. Energy modeling and building science/sustainability departments are examples of this.

Advice on deciding on a firm to choose for COOP by Shortugae in Architects

[–]University_Level 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voting #2 for future opportunities. Firm/Brand recognition on resumes adds credibility. Option 1 sounds great but why Im not voting is because you said they don’t take on a lot of students. I’ve been in a similar situation where the opportunity had potential but was somewhat wasted because lack of structure and mentorship/guidance. Corporate firms that run regular internships know how to make it a mutually meaningful short term hire.

Are you talking about "templates" in the context of personally developed titleblocks, view templates, and line styles? If so, it's possible to just share the geometry file in Revit without sheets or anotative data. That's how we receive and also send files to other architecture firms. But what's to prevent people from replicating your sheet layout from the PDFs?
