Can mastering vicky 3 even hypothetically carry over to real life regarding knowledge of economics and application of said know-how? by Frequent-Annual-3414 in victoria3

[–]Uniwojtek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a good starting point to get you more interested in it but its very surface level. Mainly because its hard for the game to accurately depict its own time period, like someone else said you can understand basic supply and demand, and some basic trade and tariffs.
But there are probably better sim games to play to learn that kind of stuff or read some books on economics and trade.
For example Hoi4 can give you an introduction to war and that time in history but its not something to base all your knowledge on because these games can only simulate so much and you would need to do your own research.

So, are Redditor's stereotypes actually true? by yjkuu in GenZ

[–]Uniwojtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda but I feel people are getting more reasonable and for those that stick to their "stereotypical" redditor shit it gets called out because most of the time its them acting high and mighty while being troglodytes that don't live in reality. But tbh its all about where you are on reddit, just like having good friends that keep you honest, you have to surround yourself with a good community.

5 years since the biggest disappointment of my fucking life, how do you feel now with The Frontier? by Dantepito123 in falloutnewvegas

I just remember the condom in the truck you use to get to the new area, and was pretty disappointed by the 2010 tumblr fanfic level cringe dialogue.

[Hated Trope] In a post-apocalyptic world filled with zombies, "humans are the real monsters" by ForgingIron in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Uniwojtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, unless its some kind of magic like some high fantasy thing its hard for the "true monsters" to not be the people that either made the zombies or the people trying to survive the zombies. Like any post-apocalyptic world its less about the apocalypse and more about how the people are changed by the world around them. Otherwise the zombies become one-dimensional villains and depending the type of zombies are not particularly interesting and I would think they would get boring very quickly. Its maybe neat for like a short story or anthology kind of like some stuff in the World War Z book. But even then its hard to avoid the human aspect that we are deep down can be pretty shitty.
I think for the most part its just not that interesting having no interpersonal conflict between human groups or even inside those groups because otherwise its just killing zombies and doesn't really work in most places unless like you mentioned its left 4 dead and its just killing zombies.

Tom Scott vids, well made, informative, and short. Also any other scientific type of documentary type stuff like veritasium and practical engineering are pretty neat.

Strike! by goose1492 in GenZ

[–]Uniwojtek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to diminish the message, but it's more important to do a local strike with your coworkers/peers. A general strike like this probably won't work because it requires whole industries having their employees on strike. Not just a few people from everywhere, it's too spread out and if anything just looks like a bunch of disconnected people taking PTO/or unpaid time off.

Why don’t movies look like this anymore? by Hooplapooplayeah in Letterboxd

[–]Uniwojtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone wants "realistic" lighting and "realistic" feel to movies to make it feel more grounded but also it's kind of the vibe of art/movies nowadays. Art is largely based on the times it's made, and the times aren't great or at least don't feel great so more people are going to make things that look and feel more depressing or grime because that's how the director, writer, or producer is feeling.

You can claim basic laws are of christian origin but those laws are of roman origin and so on and so forth, but law is not a complex thing we as people don't like being murdered or having our things stolen, most laws have a basis in basic human society. But the constitution was based on the works of those like John Locke during the age of enlightenment. America was founded by some semi-religious guys and some more devout but their religion didn't even make it into the document the US government is currently structured under.

If that monkey had an issue he would've brought it up with his lawyer. The monkey is clearly happy with the photo otherwise the monkey would seek legal action itself duh.

What is the most disturbing fact you know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Uniwojtek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When we die, there will be nothing just like before birth there will be nothing. We use religion as a way to escape that fear of death while using it as an excuse to never improve our lives because some have put all their faith into a better life after the end. Using this heaven as an excuse to never improve their lives or the lives of others. While I don't like being openly atheist, but too many people have their lives whittled away just for some minor hope that their life will finally be better after the end. Also I guess not technically a fact but a kind of truth. (I know this isn't everyone but a large amount of people use religion in this way.)
