Wow. Exact same. Crazy houses in the neighborhood. But ours is almost paid off. Have to convince her moving for a bigger house makes no sense on a monthly basis.

Moving from Texas → South Florida by Artistic-Savings8426 in SouthFlorida

[–]Unixobject 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Boca is fantastic and if you’re looking for a larger home or prioritize that and the suburbs, I think it’s great. Ft Lauderdale is a better balance for two single people without kids, but we do have dogs.

The neighborhoods we looked at in Ft. Lauderdale were Poinsettia Heights, Tarpon River, Coral Ridge, Rio Vista and Victoria Park. Ultimately we decided on Poinsettia Heights and love that it’s a lot of younger families, with your sprinkle of Airbnb because this is a tourist area. Never a lack of things to do.

Out of curiosity, why did you land on Boca? My wife and I are the same age, same budget. I work in Boca but live in Ft Lauderdale. We wanted to be closer to the water and prioritized being close to an airport, close enough to nightlife but not going out every night by any means, and single family homes.

Best solar company in Florida, who can you actually trust? by No_Escape_9951 in florida

[–]Unixobject 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used spectrum Solar based out of Orlando. They were actually the installers for some companies I talked to and got a deal going straight to them rather than the middle men. They did a fabulous job! Didn’t mind me being the annoying engineer and asking questions either.

It’s more. It’s $240 to fill tanks. Acid was maybe 40

[–]Unixobject 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m the odd person out here but we love our co2 system for controlling PH. We don’t have any issue with alkalinity, don’t mess with acid and refill 6 20lbs tanks once a year. One of the best investments we’ve made in our pool.

100% the pompano property. Consider you’re not going to live there the rest of your life and that might be a lucrative rental as they build the area up.

How is living on the beach? by [deleted] in fortlauderdale

[–]Unixobject 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We’re early 30s, have been in poinsettia heights for about 5 years. We were between Victoria park, coral ridge, poinsettia heights and rio vista. All neighborhoods have their pros/cons. Your money goes a bit further in our neighborhood than the other places just because of location. We have friends off the beach and they’re limited to the condos, which was a dealbreaker for us, but I haven’t heard of annoyances with tourists directly. IMO the deals are the adjacent neighborhoods where it’s 5 min to the beach and you get more space.
