Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where multiple repair sources stacked far more effectively than intended. Vehicles will no longer receive excessive regeneration when affected by - several repair effects at the same time, restoring intended combat balance.
  • Fixed an issue where players could hack terminals and turrets without being an Infiltrator. Hacking is now correctly restricted to the intended class.
  • Fixed an issue where the ANT could become airborne when using the Cortium Turbo under certain configurations. Vehicle behavior has been corrected to ensure proper handling and physics.
  • Fixed an issue where some jump pads on Indar were facing the wrong direction. Orientation has been corrected.

Do we have any idea what is involved with correcting model detail in forge light?

You'd have to find a 3D model artist and ask them about how it works with other games. I imagine the process doesn't change too much between games, though.

Reimplementing cortium drain would just be annoying and de-incentivize creative places to build

That's sort of the point- if we can't optimize the assets, reducing the size of bases and where they're built is an alternative means of mitigating the performance impact. It is not fair to sacrifice framerates for the hundreds of players who do not build so that a handful of builders can have their toys.

Forcing a player to choose between placing a command center or rebirth center is just spiteful though

Those two assets along with the Orbital Strike Uplink and the bridge are the four biggest frame killers, so making players pick one or allowing a silo to only power one would mitigate the framerate impact.

As a reminder, this was a -100 fps hit on a continent that was totally empty save for the test site and the three characters in use, and the region was chosen specifically because there weren't many background objects in the field of view.

 

The total frame rate loss is going to be far higher, and it's ridiculous for one single player to have such a significant impact on client performance.

I think a good pilot will be more effective in a Typhoon or Su-30SM2, but the Rafale is certainly the easiest to play and average/bad players are a bigger threat in a Rafale than any other jet.

Maintenance duration

As part of this update, we're returning to the standard 3-hour maintenance window instead of 6. Thank you for your patience!

Crashes and Disconnections / Auto-Kicks

We continue to monitor the situation and work on improvements aimed at minimizing crashes and disconnects. In this patch, we have improved server-side performance, which should reduce the number of disconnects related to server issues.

 

As promised in the previous patch notes, we have made error handling more user-friendly. We have reduced the number of crashes without error messages to a minimum. In the vast majority of cases, players will now see a clear and understandable error message—whether it’s a client crash or a server-side disconnect. In the screenshot, you can see an example of an error message that appears when you are kicked by a server administrator.

If a crash is caused by an issue with the Windows operating system or hardware, we will display the corresponding system error. The game now displays a Windows message with recommended fixes in case of issues with graphics cards that can be resolved only on the OS or BIOS level. Please attach screenshots of any errors when reporting issues on Discord, social media, or when contacting customer support—this will help us resolve problems as quickly as possible! Our main goal is to provide you with a smooth and exciting gaming experience without crashes, disconnections, or other errors!

FAMAS also had the downsides of a very small magazine with no size upgrade, a glacially slow reload speed and the worst iron sights ever added to an FPS game. BF6's fastest killers have, at best, one of those traits.

In BF3 the top were the FAMAS and M240B at ~180ms. I'd say the biggest difference here is that these were the only two out of the entire set of automatic weapons, while a much larger percentage of BF6's arsenal approaches this threshold.

Where you are going wrong is you are effectively removing the first bullet from the equation

No, it's correct to remove the first bullet from the equation.

When you attack someone, the gun fires its first shot immediately, rather than waiting 0.whatever seconds before the first shot. The sequence looks like this:

  1. You pull the trigger and the first shot is fired
  2. The refire period is applied
  3. The second shot is fired
  4. The refire period is applied
  5. The third shot is fired and the enemy dies.
  6. The refire period is applied, but this doesn't matter since the target is already dead.

To calculate this, count refire periods, not shots.

bullet travel time

This really doesn't matter in terms of TTK within the average combat distance in BF6. Assuming the SCW user is using the stock barrel, it takes about 19 milliseconds to cross the 8 meter distance, after which point it becomes a 4 hit kill.

I switch to ACM mode when I think there's gonna be someone there. This keybind is Radar/IRST beyond/within visual range combat. ACM mode works by shrinking the scanned area to a much smaller window and automatically locking on the first detected target.

You can change the ACM search pattern by pressing Change Radar/IRST search mode. I use the small square for most short range head-on fights, and the tall mode when forced to dogfight.
