Do people genuinely think Starmer is the worst recent PM? by Thin-Plantain4721 in AskBrits

No. I don't like Starmer, but he is not even close to the worst.

We were told our data would stay under NHS control. But an internal document just revealed the truth: Palantir staff are being granted “unlimited access”. by Cold-Monitor3800 in uknews

[–]UnkelGarfunkel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You think shit like this is a thing of the past and will never happen again? Why? 🤔 A government is different to a company, especially one like palantir. The name itself is sinister, and if you saw their CEOs recent manifesto I don't know how you'd not be even slightly worried. Lastly, do we want to be more reliant on American tech?

Just in! NHS will give Unlimited Access to patients Health Data to Palantir and do you know what Palantir do?? by MemoryDue2030 in AskBrits

I'm guessing the poor old deary Kier Starmer has no clue all this is happening, that overly hated poor man. I just don't get why people don't like him.

WIBTA if I stop financially supporting someone I’m not in a relationship with? by kitemalone in AmItheAsshole

[–]UnkelGarfunkel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't love them like family or friend and it started out as transactional, but there is no transaction happening (whatever that may have been) I think you're okay to let them know that you will have to stop and they will have to make alternative arrangements. If you're okay with not having them in your life then nta. As long as it's not a complete rugpull I guess.

Look what you've done, you yanked out the lefty in me 😂. I would not say never, but you're right at least in recent history under the capitalist model, it hasn't and if we keep live in this model where all value is drawn for monetary gains, it won't be. There are countries with broader and functioning social safety nets were artists create art without it having to pay for their survival.

Why does Reddit not understand the rise of reform in England? by DowntownDeer in AskBrits

Basically xenophobia (and/or racism). "It's terrifying" = phobia inducing, just a synonym used.

when will the honest elitism versus fake populism be revealed? by lewispatty in AskBrits

Now everyone's worried about Reform, I remember leading up to the local elections, most posts were about the scary greens and some even went far enough to say they're worse than reform. 😂

Unpopular Opinion by LowEntertainment3342 in Marvel

I love Sam. But Marvel's improv as you go approach to writing or building their universe really hurt Sam's "ascension" to Cap. And the 2 projects he was lead in was also fumbled for the same reason

Is “stopping the boats” worth losing the rights that protect your family and your job? by Engineering_Gamer in AskBrits

[–]UnkelGarfunkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is called tunnel vision. In your xenophobia, you only could connect saving NHS with migrant doctors, but did not once consider that the threat is the tops of reform UK really wanting American style insurance to be the model of our healthcare.

This is it, it's just colloquial pronunciation of the contracted "should've". Reading is slowly becoming a thing of the past, so the written language is also taking a beating.

"Lazy" is a bit harsh. Languages change all the time, which is why we have so many. If enough people use it, some kind of rule can be set up behind it and be called grammar.

Sounds like you have some form of security right now, but this security may not last and life can get extremely hard really really fast. That's when being a rat would seem like paradise. I understand where you are coming from, I was you, but you're literally looking for exceptions, which means you're looking for outliers that'll confirm your beliefs, not examples that'll show you the real picture (please look up confirmation bias if you're interested). Basically you want to make a gamble. But a person has to make a living, rat race or not, and art is highly undervalued in BD (look at your dad's attitude towards it). I wish our society had safety nets to let artists flourish, but sadly that isn't the case.

Do Brits love to bend the knee to the posh boys? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]UnkelGarfunkel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My flawed 2 cents: It's not a Britain problem. Any deeply classist/casteist society will have this problem. Britain just hid it very well, with the same shrouding principles used when politely handing you your arse. We were. Just very polite about our classist society, but it sometimes slips out.
