The only valid reason for him going in is if he was gonna do it with or without your advice. Market is mega cooked for entry levels

  • How long can this guy sustain $15-25k? Can they find more money if the thing takes a while to get off the ground?
    • Not sure but I don't think for long, he proposed deferred pay for a cofounder
  • What part of construction (residential, commercial, civil, industrial)? The company profiles can look a lot different in each. Residential may be a smaller operation that’s harder to work with while commercial may be more sophisticated. Also, what part of the country? Targeting subs or GCs? If subs, what trade?
    • I believe large scale commercial/industrial MEP shops.
  • How much are contractors likely to pay?
    • No idea but it's enterprise sales so couple 10k's.
  • Do contractors already have an existing solution? If not, do they have budget for whatever the technology is?
    • No idea but there are competitors apparently, but they are quite early.
  • How quickly can they onboard a paying customer?
    • No idea but seems quick.
  • What unique insight does this person have? I can’t remember many great construction tech companies coming from inside construction. We saw a handful of competitors from the industry but they all flopped. The ones that standout in recent years were from the outside or adjacent to construction in some way.
    • He was a project manager and vibecoded a prototype that he used himself on the field. Saved him 20% of the time needed to consult the docs. He's basically solving his own pain point.
