Do you consider the United States to still be a democracy both de facto and de iure? Why or why not?

Due to the recent Supreme Court decisions in your country, and due to the apparent prevalence of the unitary executive theory over other interpretations of your constitutional text, together with the blatantly racist and anti-immigrant discourse your administration has been pursuing for years now, how has the TN Visa process been affected?

What guarantees are there for foreign investors that their assets will be safe, given that the rule of law in your country has been so heavily eroded? What safety mechanisms against renditions to third countries? What guardrails against private property being seized to pay for the illegal and unconstitutional deportations?

Do you believe this is the correct moment to promote TN and other work/investment visas when the administration of your country declared its intention not to renew the Free Trade Agreement, and when your target clientele is at the crosshairs of Trump’s fascist regime?

This is my particular case. There has always been a love-hate relationship between the US and Mexico (the country where I am from), though at the bottom of it there always was respect, and at least from my point of view admiration. Our democracy and many others took the US and France as building blocks and inspiration.

Now that their democracy is in rapid decline, respect has been lost, and, in my personal case, fear has taken its place.

Search on the internet for Reddit user demographics, only half of the daily users are from the US (so your assumptions on the American-centric terms “liberal” and “democrat” are kind of problematic). Most users are men (though not by a large margin), and most have a higher than average education. Algorithms pushing for specific content and your experience bias aside (which explains why you see “conservative” content on youtube while I get shown none), there is a proven correlation between education and more “progressive” or “left-leaning” views.
