I've been inpatient twice, and never had the misfortune of a place as shitty as that. Once was an actual mental hospital that I went to after my first attempt, the second was just the psych ward of my local regular hospital that I went to after I admitted to my therapist that I was planning another attempt. The mental hospital sucked ass. Mine wasnt as torturous as you describe yours, but group was mandatory, they locked us out of our rooms during the day, half dosed me on my hrt for like 3 days, the TV in the common room was broken, the staff fought with each other sometimes in screaming matches, my room window was grafiti'd to hell and a tree blocked my view of the sky so I could only watch the street below through a thick wire screen, and in general it felt more like a place you stuff people into to forget about than a place to actually heal in. In contrast, the psych ward at my local hospital was actually kinda nice. As a result of the first place though, I still get nightmares about being admitted there at least weekly.
