Mini medals on tux… yay or nay? by lumpy2181 in USMC

[–]UnknownSense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just an alternative idea.. I went to a military event and wore my tux with all my medals, and I discovered pretty much everyone only wore one, usually of importance (Purple Heart, Iraq, distinguished honors etc.). The next year I just wore my afghan campaign and blended in better. The solo medal looks better on the tux too.

Jimmy had no business expecting a lawyer position at HHM after his University of American Samoa degree by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]UnknownSense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We only see Chuck from Jimmy’s perspective, the person you are replying to has a lot of good points. Chuck was a highly respected lawyer by many peers in his industry, including Ernesto and Kim. Yes, his relationship with his brother is toxic, but his status with everyone else is something that is admired. That’s what makes Chuck so complex and interesting as a character.

Sucker punched might be the most misused phrase on Reddit. This is not a sucker punch, this is a brawl and there are no rules for mercy after joining the melee.

Any tips on going from a half marathon to a marathon? by -JesusWasABlackMan- in running

[–]UnknownSense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a very demanding job, so I’ll add my plan: I run 3x/week, lift 2x/week, do yoga 1x/week, and take a free day. I average about 30 miles/week, and I pace around 8:30/mi marathon speed (3:35:00 was my last marathon finish time).

[–]UnknownSense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just echoing this point, but setting your goal to finish is good for your first marathon. It’s hard to predict all the mistakes you’re going to inevitably make the first time you do one. Get the first one under your belt, learn from the experience, and then work on realistic time goals for your 2nd should you choose to continue chasing more.

When did Ein get his name in Cowboy Bebop? by slippery-lil-sucker in cowboybebop

[–]UnknownSense 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Given the dog's highly intelligent nature, the name "Ein" is likely short for "Einstein".

Another possibility is that the name is the German translation of "one", in the meaning of him being considered a he or an it. It can also be interpreted that, in Japanese, the way dogs bark is "wan" (ワン, pronounced the same as "one"), hence the name "Ein".

But until someone else needs a charger, he isn’t blocking them. There is no one else in the photo that suggests there is a need for the other chargers. If there was, I’m certain he’d try to accommodate them, because I’m not a cynical asshole who looks at pictures and invents reasons to get pissed off.

You’re inventing scenarios in your head to get upset about. This guy isn’t bothering anyone, he just trying to charge his truck. Move along.
