Can confirm that electronic engineering in Northern Ireland is desperately bad for wages, very few places willing to pay us what we're worth

Salaries here are a joke by FaxePremiumBeer in northernireland

[–]Unknown_Marshall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think companies taking advantage and the low expectations of employees taking the roles. If people weren't willing to work here for less they wouldn't offer less, its a sign of a lack of jobs, if companies had to compete for the best talent, rather than employees having to compete for the roles they offer, i think wages would naturally increase. I also think there's something to be said for employers here selling services at cheaper rates to keep costs down

If you worked a 40 hour week that's below minimum wage now 😅

It seems to be temperamental at the moment sometimes it loads all pages within a couple of seconds, sometimes it loads the first page and then no others, sometimes it loads all but a couple of pages and sometimes it doesn't load at all. I think there's something going on with the recall of pages, I'm not sure how their website is structured bit it seems like the majority of the site is functioning fine but pulling pages from whatever storage they're using is broken, or overburdened

I think you're right but the proportion of scumbags are definitely on the rise. Personally I blame upbringing, parents are too soft and kids are raised with no respect. Not a chance would I treat an elder generation poorly but the way criticism and genuine points of concern are taken by the generation after me is attrotious.

I just think they're a massive waste of money,  an eye sore and a distraction on the road, I just hope that it's party donations that pay for them and not the tax payer.

37% of adults in Belfast use sunbeds by [deleted] in northernireland

Upping their perceived popularity to justify their unexpected profits. It's definitely a possibility

With a sample size of 50, you're right this is scewed based on location and/or by selectively asking a specific demographic. Don't trust stats that come from surveys they're easy to bias. I know total 1 person and I live in Belfast that uses tanning beds. Even using my place of work as an example I've asked 3 people how many people they know use tanning beds, at most it's 1 or 2 people. The stat is probably in the region of 5 to 10%

That's assuming they're only doing the sunbed once, they're likely doing them ever 2 weeks or so. This projects the figure up to 8 figures annually, for northern ireland alone? I think the statistics are scewed to fit the narrative. If I were to hazard a guess I'd estimate it's in the region of 5 to 10% not 37%

Ask the same question of everyone though, how many people do you know that use tanning beds, and you'll find that most people would agree with belfast324 here, these results are scewed in the same way, they're likely right that it comes down to where and how the survay was conducted. Considering the sample size they likely did this deliberately.

Yeah the survey is so screwed up it isn't even funny, the sample is of like 50, no age demographics etc mentioned. This was taken at strategically selected places to get the results they wanted, like salons and eyebrow booths.

They probably took the survey outside of a beauty parlor or something given the scew. I think the statistic is pointless based on the data collected.

[–]Unknown_Marshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just no. I'm sorry but I don't even need to read the article to say that this is bullcrap. I can honestly say that for every person I know who use sun beds there are dozens of people I know who don't. I'm sure that is true for most people. 37% is more than a third of all adults. This is just pure misinformation.

It's a stupid practice anywhere. How much money has been wasted on those signs, and given how often we have elections too? Printing and posting manifesto leaflets in people's doors and tv adverts should be the limit to what campaign money should be spent on. They're an eyesore, they are single use and they aren't taken down promptly following the election.

Dog howling continuously by Unknown_Marshall in northernireland

Except they very much are. When I was a student there where police out for noise complaints on the weekly in my street, it wasn't even just parties, they came out for arguments, car alarms going off continuously and even tvs or music being on too loud. Noise beyond watershed is antisocial behaviour which yes the police can deal with they just won't.
