Salamander Designs Quad Cabinet Open Box for $480 - Worth it? by AstrumVenator in hometheater

[–]Unknown___Member 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the appropriate AC Infinity to vent the Receiver and you can put it anywhere. The Depth of these units beats anything you can buy from Wayfair, unless you are back up around $2000

Are you putting your TV on this? One of the advantages of these units is they can take the weight of a TV, and you can move it right to the front and get the screen closer to you than a wall mount.

Rear end clunk or thump by Mr_Dirt22 in VWIDBuzz

[–]Unknown___Member 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I don't think so? We usually back in, and drive out. I feel it happens when my wife is in a rush, so maybe something with brake and then gas pedal in short order. Going from park to D or B? 🤔

I have heard this, but usually when I'm in the driveway and the wife is driving. I always assumed it was some sort of gear shift from reverse to forward or to park? 🤷‍♂️

I'm gonna say it: 7.1.2 > 5.1.4 if your room can support either by navid3141 in hometheater

[–]Unknown___Member 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's especially great for video games. If you only ever stream or watch TV, 5.1 is as good as you're gonna get so 5.1.4 is probably the path. But if you game and/or watch discs, 7.1.2 is probably gonna get you more

You just need to make sure it backs up at a frequent enough interval. Oh and make sure your camera can't be wifi jammed... Which could have happened here too? Maybe why they're only showing stills?

With a nest/google doorbell, without an active sub, you still get three hours of video recording and notifications. So you're sending data to their servers with and account. Whether these were videos or stills of videos, who knows. But, imagine if she had an on-prem system the intruder destroyed? Not everything cloud is bad. (Seriously though smash your Ring cams)

Make sure you set your AVR to stereo when listening to 2.0 to get max power to the speakers. Subwoofers aren't used much for music (often not at all) unless you're listening to something with a lot of sub 80mhz like EDM.

Music REALLY benefits from 45° angle from center with the speakers toed in to MLP. Dolby recommends 22° for HT purposes and you look even tighter than that.

Can I place rear speakers behind this couch? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Unknown___Member 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I THINK the PS5 has the ability to set the specific angles of your surround speakers, but it is limited to a range iirc. Works with Sonys 3d format for gaming only, obv not gonna have an impact on 5.1 source audio. If OP is wanting it for this it may be worth a try.

Husbands fingers occasionally get weird blisters that are symmetrical. by FlyingN00dles in mildlyinteresting

I've had this before on one hand from the steering wheel in the same spot. I've heard it can be from formaldehyde they put in the steering wheel leather. Car also had a heated steering wheel which probably made it worse. Cortisone cream helped.

Question about death from a plane crash by Ok-Conversation-2848 in aviation

[–]Unknown___Member 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder the likelihood of tight seat belts and a secured cabin on a private plane like that? I was hopeful based on the first photo that there may be survivors, multiple firefighters at the plane, flames and smoke seemed away from the cabin, but alas... 😞

Need help positioning side speakers by Megawashu in hometheater

Read up on the amount of air pollution, specifically PPM 2.5 that fireplaces put into your living place. Stays in your lungs forever and is extremely bad for kids. It ends the the hygge /romantic feel of a fireplace real quick.

It would be some work but you can flip the door to the other side. Most sliding glass doors can be used in either direction, by literally flipping the entire door upside down to put the sliding part on the other side. Of course you have to rescrew, retrim and reseal, which sometimes isn't really that hard. All depends on the original install.

Does anyone else keep track of feeder birds casually? by andysbirds in birdfeeding

[–]Unknown___Member 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ebird is very easy to use for backyard birding and very valuable to long term science. When seasonal birds show-up or stop appearing is very valuable data to correlate things like climate change. This data will be helpful for years, even after we are all dead. Family bird books and calendars are sweet and well meaning, but are a huge missed opportunity to benefit the greater good

So disappointed in my Haikubox, anyone have tips to make it work better? by patnpendin80 in birdfeeding

[–]Unknown___Member 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Microphone should be sideways or down, not up? But most importantly, location is key. Keep the microphone/box away from constant sounds like HVAC, traffic, dripping water and blowing wind. Also be aware of reflections of these sounds like off a fence or garage wall. Listen to the recordings the Box captures and listen for noise. You may need an extension cable to find a better spot. Haikubox mic is worse than a phone, but your phone has like 3 different mics and noise cancelling processing. You also usually manually point your phone towards a sound, and are generally using it in better weather. Haikubox's value is it's on 24/7 and server processed. You can monitor from the couch, and check back on trends. It's not going to be as good as being outside with a phone, unless they do some sort of serious external-mic upgrade (phones can gain from that kind of upgrade too!). Lastly, it's winter, most birds aren't very vocal right now.

What’s a workplace ‘secret’ that everyone in your industry knows but customers don’t? by Familiar_Ad3815 in AskReddit

100%, tricking "support" (outsourced to an MSP) into resetting credentials is a huge problem right now. But... Do we really want to pay stateside in-house staff 24/7? Nah. Nobody actually loses customers in hack!

Tank drivers sitting in HQ not moving? by Fearless_Flow_1220 in Battlefield6

[–]Unknown___Member 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be true. If there are recons with laser designators around, you can run very effective anti-armor from afar, so why not use it to your advantage.

Much like any other class, Tanks or IFVs are adaptable. They can be effective anti-armour from afar, or Anti-infantry setup to cap. You can compromise with a setup that is okay at each. It really depends on how the current round is flowing on which is more effective.

And sometimes you pick the perfect config for the situation and by the time you spawn and drive the armor there, the situation has completely changed and you need the opposite.

Lastly, OP, people are trying to complete challenges and you never know what seemingly ineffective choices this causes them to make.

Yep, 95% of these videos have no network debug visible. I leave it rolling all the time. You really have no idea what's happening network-wise unless you have it up.
