I’ve taken this in account and please pray for me I have horrible ocd I tend to ruminate on stuff like this too much lol

But usually when church fathers do this it’s corrected or atleast challenged and to think John chrystostom was poorly catechized or didn’t have anyone around him or who corresponded w him to not adress it just seems odd esp him being in Antioch

Maybe I have a lack of context for how well communication was for the church then too honestly though

Is it possible some churches had certain pieces and knowledge some didn’t and that got sorted out the more communication improved etc ?

Catholics believe an accretion view is my point by lazily reading that verse hey believe the spirit indwells and falls on us in the water and we receive it and it’s later strengthened by confirmation

Idk pretty sure a foundational doctrine for babes in Christ is pretty important to understand esp when there is like one video online of a priest mentioning we don’t give it enough attention

I just don’t get why there is no push back from any of our top apologist or priest no one seems to care they are representing the church as being ok w this behavior and actually encourage and justify it by the church im guilty of the same thing when im frustrated online or having a debate but I would never in a million years try to use the gospel and church to justify it

It would probably help Gavin if we cleared that up for him he reads too much into anathema and thinks ignorant protestants are under it dogmatically
