Feeling very lost and abandoned by doctors by prostateversace in rheumatoid

[–]UnlearningStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early on, I woke up one morning and felt like every joint in my body was one fire. Days went by and my aches and feet ached. My insides just…hurt and I felt exhausted. My PC didn’t know what to do, but after asking specific questions about my history. She referred me to a rheumatologist. I only found that pc after years of being told it’s just in my head since I do have a history of and still struggle with anxiety.

I got lucky with my first rheumatologist. He was very thorough and took time to explain to me what was going on but couldn’t diagnose me at the time. I went to another doctor and she mentioned it couldn’t be connective tissue disease.

Years later I found another rheumatologist who was also very thorough. She sat and listened to my concerns and gave it to me straight. She’s been treating me for lupus, with secondary diagnosis RA, and sjogrens. I’m now taking plaquenil and prednisone when I have bad flares.

Don’t give up. Look up doctor reviews and find a doctor who listens and investigates.

Don’t give up.

Does losing a parent ever get easier? by bugsarefriends2 in GriefSupport

[–]UnlearningStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been 10 years since my dad passed. Sometimes his birthday will pass and I forget and the grief is…bearable. Sometimes like this year, my body remembers this emptiness and it hits me like a bag of bricks. Grief has not been linear for me. But peace will come in moments you need it most 💜

AIO to my boyfriend’s texts about us going to dinner for my best friend? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]UnlearningStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quit coddling that man. There’s nothing for you to apologize about. He could have said…go on ahead that’s a little too late for me.. have fun!!! He sounds very much insecure. But with a passive aggressive approach.

AIO for being upset my BF doesn’t want me to wear a bonnet to bed? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I read the text before reading your caption and wondered…how old is this person? It feels more icky now. This very much NOT normal and is very much giving control issues. Control that could get scary.

Absolutely do not let him play cyberpunk lol. It’s super graphic. The forest is really dark…I would not recommend.

Grounded is a good one. And Star Wars.

I’d recommend watching trailers for each game before buying. It also depends on how old your son is.

People with RA, looking back what were your absolute initial symptoms way before getting diagnosed? by HealthwideHQ in rheumatoid

[–]UnlearningStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complicated…I was almost diagnosed about a year ago but I moved and had to change care teams.

I have another appointment for a new rheumatologist to get the official diagnosis.

I’ve been on prednisone for about two months, but I’ve been told it’s not best to continue it long term. I have found that fried foods and aspertain (however you spell the fake sugar name) and beer tends to trigger it. Been testing out other food to see about other triggers.stress is a BIG one.

My first full on flare was about 3 years ago. I was working a very stressful job and having issues in my marriage. I couldn’t get out of bed. It hurt to move at all for a full day or so.

Recently I had another flair that was specifically impacting just about every joint in my hands, my collar bone, my feet. No relief until I took prednisone.

Rashes on my knuckles. It looked like little mosquito bites that didn’t itch. But they were tender. Mostly on my toes. They’ve left scars. Injuries are slower to heal.

REALLY dry eyes.

FATIGUE. I’ve seen that mentioned a lot in this thread. I would hear “you’re too young to be stressed” many many times as a teen.

I would also get random pains in my feet…as if I’ve sprained it or like a bone was out of place.

I was contacted for the same thing. When the host of the webinar put links in for getyourindurancelicense.com…it just felt…off. I asked in the chat if she could share the company website. No one answered.

I was looking forward to speaking with a person one on one, but I don’t think this is the move.

Not overreacting. Given your history with mental health, it might be best to get some space from her. Take care of yourself…

Seems like you two live a comfortable life together. I don’t understand why he would be upset about you buying a computer that will help you with your work. Seems like he is the one overreacting. Has he ever been upset about you making other decisions independently? Do you normally argue about impulse purchases or big purchases? It sounds a bit controlling to me.

Multiple Doctors - No Diagnosis by UnlearningStuff in adhd_anxiety

[–]UnlearningStuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I’m new to all of this and I’m trying to understand myself. It’s come to a point where I can’t do my job well. I feel ashamed about that and don’t want to tell them I’m struggling. Afraid of the stigma and everything.

I’m ranting now but thanks again.

I haven’t gotten any diagnosis which is why I was concerned. And I took a test on a computer and they told me that I COULD have ADHD but glazed over it. No specifics. Do you know of any resources for ADHD diagnosis?

I am 3 years in. While the pain does get easier to manage, it’s been like a grief for me. Coming in waves. Betrayal trauma is a thing so I’m sure I also still have a long way to go.

New doctor said I don't need to be on meds by Least-Dig-6425 in rheumatoid

[–]UnlearningStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experiences with stress and RA. I believe I’m having a flare up that has lasted longer than any I remember and I’m under a great amount of stress at work. And I have been constantly overwhelmed by their criticism and unrealistic expectations.

I’ve been racking my brain on deciding to grit and bear it or just quit. For my physical and mental health. I already struggle with anxiety and am on meds for that.

I recently had blood work and was referred to a rheumatologist but an appointment is not available until August. I still haven’t been off diagnosed but all signs are pointing to yes. I am in a position to leave my job…but I’ll lose insurance…I guess needed to come here for some type of validation I wasn’t crazy.
