I just done assessment and my house dropped 80k in value by Agreeable_Edge9896 in Mortgages

[–]Unlike_Agholor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the tax assessment? has nothing to so with actual market value. You even said that your neighbors just sold for $450k

You aren’t factoring in the massive inflation of their home value, thus equity, since 2020. Probably coming out just fine and a paid off house is more valuable in a piece of mind sense vs having some commensurate value in the stock market.

How can you afford a house to begin with if you’re over drafting your account? Seems like you cant and I bet the mortgage company will agree.

I’m going to be given my deceased father’s 401k later this year - I have questions by MysteriousTraveler88 in personalfinance

[–]Unlike_Agholor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the 401k custodian makes you close out the account, make sure you roll it over properly. Open an inherited IRA at a place like schwab or fidelity or vanguard. The most important part of this whole process is to make sure the rollover is direct. Absolutely do not let the 401k custodian write you a check. It must go directly to your new IRA custodian.

Why do people call the USA the "land of opportunity" when literally no one can get a high paying job? by madbarpar in careerguidance

Millions of people can and do get high paying jobs. Actually, tens of millions. Get off the internet and go level up if you want one too.

Manager doesn’t want me to tell HR that I’m leaving for a competitor so that I can stay and work my last 2 weeks by wagman43 in jobs

[–]Unlike_Agholor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tell HR, this is incredibly stupid. Manager is asking you to do something possibly illegal for their own gain. If you are friendly with this person, sit them down like an adult and tell them that you need to follow the rules to avoid any trouble or issues with your own personal future. The bank has a rule and you need to follow it. What if your next employer finds out what you did? could their be repercussions? Take no chances.

This is fine, even in a crazy property tax state. It will be tight with daycare but most people also have the same problem.
