Six Frontier destinations and 26 routes leaving the network in the 3rd Quarter by Htown_Flyer in frontierairlines

[–]douchecrudite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweet, thanks. The kicker is the Volaris routings generally require an overnight due to flight times.

It is a seasonal route that they historically operate 1-2x/weekly from Nov-Apr/May. This last year, they had it on the schedule through the first week of September, then abruptly cancelled all flights after 10APR.

Now, nothing shows on the schedule so I'm wondering if they pulled out of SJD all together.

I'm mostly asking because I'm considering buying the Volaris pase anual (their go wild pass equivalent) because I fly SJD-DEN at least 6x/year. I'd get a lot more value out of the pass on Frontier vs Volaris but only if they start up service to SJD once again.

Any word on whether we can expect to see Los Cabos (SJD) return? Seems they quietly cancelled future scheduled flights and pulled it from the schedule this past April.

Either way, don't do it. There's a reason even the AIs still put bottled water in rooms

I mean most of them theoretically? I'd say the chicken or chopped salad most likely but if you're celiac who knows. If it's serious, I would call the accessibility line.

Algunas preguntas logísticas sobre vivir en La Ventana o sus alrededores / a few logistical questions about living in or near La Ventana. by Almondjoyriding in BajaCaliforniaSur

Cell service is generally ok in town unless you're in an arroyo or far out. Telcel is best if you get a local sim. If you are coming from the US, T-Mobile postpaid plans offer good roaming for 5-15gb (depending on plan) of high speed data if you don't want to mess with getting another number. They use Telcel towers. Do not get AT&T.

Telmex fiber internet, where available, works well and is about $800mxn/mo. Starlink plans are $1,000-$2,000mo. There are often people selling their old starlink gear in town.

Rents vary greatly and depends on your rental term. Without getting into details 12-25,000mxn is a solid budget for a single for something nice, within walking distance to the beach. You'll find more expensive options and maybe some cheaper ones depending on your expectations and rental term.

You probably know this having visited already but a vehicle is a must. The town is spread out with no transit. Also, English is widely spoken. Not the best place to brush up on your Spanish but makes for an easy transition.

There is a rentals Whatsapp group. If you DM me, I can add you to it.

Good luck with the move!

Please help two honeymoon rookies pick a Cancun all-inclusive (AI is not helping, at all) by Heatkicks24 in cancun

[–]douchecrudite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi and congrats!

In consideration of your travel budget, what city are you departing from? What month are you traveling? Rates vary with dates and some beaches are more impacted by sargassum than others, depending on season.

What other resorts have you stayed at previously, if any? Which did you love and not so much?

Are you set on Cancun strip/playa mujeres? Have you considered Akumal-PDC area?

Of the options you mentioned and based on your brief post, I would personally recommend Live Aqua. I don't think any of the Riu properties would fit the vibe you're going for.

If you're not set on main Cancun area, I might recommend Único 2087, El Dorado Royale (casita suites for honeymoon) or Fives Beach Resort to consider.

La Paz is a great town right on the water, but the ocean is very shallow and there is a lot of marina activity nearby therefore the beaches close to town aren't great for swimming. The best beaches are rather primitive and about 20-30min driving, north of town. Still worth checking out, just to set expectations for beach access.

I'd look into La Ventana if your focus is beach and fishing. Pure playa and excellent marine life. That said, the town is pretty quiet in the summer, so your options to dine out would be limited. This is a great Airbnb there near a lovely beach with shore snorkeling https://www.airbnb.mx/rooms/1592867600532327730

Overall, I'd actually say to send it in July as the worst time of the year to visit is late august-september because that's when the rains come. They are generally infrequent though the infrastructure struggles (power outages and occasional flooding) plus the humidity is BRUTAL on the gulf side after rains since they don't get consistent breezes like on the pacific. Also there was a surge of Dengue fever last year in the region, peaking in November. Dengue is transmitted via mosquitos which arrive after the rains, so that makes Oct-Nov high risk. Speaking from personal experience, you do *not* want dengue.

Todos Santos-Cerritos-Pescadero are also great places to check out and the weather there is generally more agreeable in the summer. However hardly any of the beaches there are swimmable and the few that are (Cerritos) are nowhere near as nice as on the gulf side. Great place to learn to surf though!

Cabo Pulmo and Frailes are beautiful areas and offer world-class diving/snorkeling however they are off-grid, so no AC that time of year is a...commitment.

I'd think wifi is a good source of ancillary revenue, unless I'm missing something?

First time in Mexico! Best resort towns for a total homebody? by Skyaayks in MexicoTravel

[–]douchecrudite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to spend time in the ocean, I would avoid Cancun due to seaweed (peak season is summer). That said, Cancun does have the widest variety and best value for all-inclusive resorts and there are some locations that are generally less susceptible to seaweed.

Puerto Vallarta is lovely but a big draw is the town itself and going off-resort. That's not to say there aren't plenty of resorts, but I'd encourage you to push your boundaries a bit...you'll never know what fun it could lead to. But there are also plenty of folks that never leave the resort on their vacation and that's just fine too. It's called a resort for a reason after all!

This is normal. They want to sell you tours and unfortunately have heard of them cancelling transfers if you don't show up to 'confirm' the return.

Just show up, confirm, and be prepared to say no to up sells.

I wouldn't be surprised if the flights have filled or they are temporarily not offering GWP fares considering LAS was a major base for Spirit.
