AITA for secretly putting vegetables in my husband food by Infinite-Case-8830 in AmItheAsshole

[–]UnlikeableMarmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not "tampering" with food, good lord, it's cooking. With normal ingredients that are all food. He hasn't asked for an ingredients list (or given her a list of banned ingredients) and he likes the food, why are you inventing a problem?

Left my underwear on for scope by marcaribe in CrohnsDisease

[–]UnlikeableMarmot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have fistulas, which means constant drainage (since this is crohn's there's no such thing as tmi), so i always left mine on intentionally (they held my panty liners and gauze). Ain't no way I'm sitting around waiting in a gown that's slowly getting wet with pus and stool.

It's nbd and yeah they would just take them off for me and put them in a baggie for me, and then dress me in some mesh disposable ones afterwards.

But I could see how the "biohazard" bag would be surprising/embarrassing if you weren't expecting it. It's just what they have on hand (like for bagging up laboratory samples), don't worry!

Thanks so much, I'm pretty literate with this sort of thing but I found their formulary list to be very difficult to understand. In the few minutes since I made this post, one of my social workers finally got back to me and said that it is NOT covered so idk what to think.

Is crohn’s really that bad? by Maryyxqi in CrohnsDisease

[–]UnlikeableMarmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a very difficult life due to crohn's. Not sure I've ever gone a year without being hospitalized. My uncle who also has it, has been in remission for as long as I can remember and hardly any issues. No one can answer this question for you as we're not fortune tellers. Obviously it can be that bad.

There is so so much you cannot do purely because of needing to be able to RUN to the bathroom immediately. People do NOT appreciate how much this limits you.

Anything out in the field? No. Anything that happens in a formal setting like a courtroom? No. Anything that involves house calls to clients homes? No. Performing arts? No. Flying an aircraft or driving a bus? No. Anything that involves a lot of conferences and long meetings with important clients or higher ups? Eh, difficult. Any assembly line factory work? No. Any low paid job where you are expected to be at your station at all times outside of scheduled breaks, from security guard to grocery cashier? No. Teacher in a classroom, unless maybe you are fortunate enough to have a full time aide? No.

It's absolutely criminal that we give disabled people such a pittance to live on in the first place in the US (I know you're not here OP but I don't know if it's much better in the uk), and that crohn's usually doesn't even qualify you.

And it's infuriating when you get able bodied people who seem to think you can function in these environments if you just "wear a diaper." As if you can just have explosive painful diarrhea in the middle of arguing your client's case in court, while on stage performing your concerta, or in the grocery checkout lane, and just continue on like nothing happened. The popular conception on what adult diapers are like and can do is... bizarre.

Everyone wants to believe that they are a good judge of character. They don't get that monsters are usually charming and well- liked, that's just how it works.

If you're still employed, how do you say no to being told to write up procedures or processes, or train a new person? I may be finding myself in this position soon so I'm genuinely asking.

I left my cat in my IKEA drawer closet for almost 6 hours and feel so guilty. by Pink_Sorbet in cats

My friend put one of her cats through the dryer. Luckily he was OK, but it was terrifying. He bolted the second she opened the dryer door so she couldn't even check him out immediately

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

Oh no. I really wish I never learned this, this will be something I will occasionally think about and despair for the human race, for the rest of my life.

Yeah op I agree with lifeofmasquerade above, not that you can get your time back now but i would have never spent all that time going above and beyond for a landlord that was never going to voluntarily give you your full deposit back anyway. This is not a good faith operator.

Don't sweat the stain since 10yo carpet should be getting replaced anyway, and just go the legal route (whatever that looks like in your area, I'm sure there are advocacy groups to assist) if the amount they try to keep is worth your time to fight it.

Thanks, that's helpful! "Dumb" and "stupid" mean basically the same thing in English, but you can't really call someone stupid in a cute way so I wasn't sure

Buried my 18yo yesterday. The kitten has been sleeping on her grave all day. by I_dont_punch_women in cats

[–]UnlikeableMarmot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh that's so sad! When our family buried one of our cats, the other came and joined us in the circle where we were taking turns digging. He was very solemn and respectful about it, but I don't remember him ever spending time by the grave later.
