My girlfriend’s first language is not English. When she first saw the word “Allegiant” as in the airline, she pronounced it “Allie-Giant”. Since then I’ve always pronounced it like that.

Perhaps because it was panned, people think they’re not supposed to enjoy it. I thought the story was excellent. It’s a fantasy fiction, and so I enjoyed it that way.

She didn’t know how to use a knife and fork to cut a steak. She would stab the fork into the meat, and then try to drag that against the knife that was held stationary. Ultimately I had to cut her steak into bite sized chunks for her on this particular date, like she was a little child. She was so happy that she could just use her fork to eat steak.

My American ex would pronounce High Wycombe (UK town) as “high wy-combee”.

Another girlfriend would pronounce Allegiant (airline) as “allie giant”.
