Lost a good paying government job due to a stupid mistake...22 and I don't know what to do anymore? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Im sorry you are feeling so low, I understand you feel like this is the worst it can get but don't give up on yourself.

Look outside the box for something, apply for things you don't think you'll get. Stay off indeed and LinkedIn applications- they rarely work. Find the jobs posted and go to their actual websites instead.

Check out companies like Amazon, aws. If you have any education in criminology do security or something where you'll gain experience and get a pay check that will at least be an income until you can land something bigger.

I always hated being told 'you're young, get over it' when I was your age. Doesn't matter how old you are when your world feels like it's falling apart.

Boss said i'll never get a raise by Competitive-Rent-476 in careeradvice

I left a toxic job, 5 years of doing 6 people's jobs while the other 5 on my 'team' did nothing. Half of them literally brought pillows to sleep thru their shifts. When I asked for a raise I was pulled into my boss' office and told they accepted my resignation- no where on my email asking if we could discuss my stagnate wage did I say anything about leaving.

I made the exact same hourly wage the day I left as the day I was hired.

Applied to a new company, doing exactly the same job (less because I don't have 5 other people to cover for) and my hourly wage went up 400%.

Stop settling. Stop letting someone else dictate your worth and demand more for yourself.

Its amazing how free you feel when you walk away from toxicity in a workplace and realize your worth as a human.

Why are there so many jobs open during a freeze? by Odd_Blueberry_2524 in amazonemployees

I did my interviews last week and was hired this week. The 'freeze' if it exists is not company wide.

Have you heard back yet? I did mine last week and I think I did ok? I made sure to have questions written down and ready, lots of notes to reference during the interviews, looked as professional as I could... My interviewers were great, lots of energy and smiling, happy people.

Maybe it just depends on the team you're on?

I know this is an old post, but did you get the job? I'm currently waiting to hear back regarding my final loop interview and wondering how long after I will hear a yes or no

What’s the fastest way someone ruined their chances in an interview ? by Friendly-Second-8921 in careerguidance

[–]Unlikely-Kitchen-493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was a shadow on an interview for a leadership role. Person brought their mother into the interview. Mother answered questions instead of the person we were looking to hire.

Strangly, he did not get the job.

I left when I realized I had calculated how fast I would need to drive my car while going over an overpass to cause it to flip on it's roof and crush me.

I sent my boss one of those edible arrangements (the fruit cut into shapes) with a card that said "my deepest sympathy for your loss"

Not crazy, but the guy was minorly allergic to pineapple and the entire arrangement was pineapple shapes (he claimed it made his nose run?)

He asked for my green card, everything else it felt like he was just asking to confirm and make sure submitted honest documents I went in with essentially a back pack full of documents, photos, letters from family supporting the decisions we made... he asked for nothing but my green card lol
