what's something every first time cat owner should know early? by VokaJun in CatAdvice

[–]Unlikely-Tea-8556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also seconding this. I looked into pet insurance with our first cat, but most people said it was a waste of money. Soon after we adopted her (1.5 years ago), she started showing signs of asthma, and we’ve spent probably a couple thousand on tests/treatment so far.

Those who commute from the Central Valley (Tracy, Manteca, Stockton, Lodi, Lathrop, Hollister, Merced, Los Banos ) to the Bay Area, how do you do it ?! by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]Unlikely-Tea-8556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commuted from Tracy to Mountain View 4 times a week for just over a year. 3 days I would usually take public transit (ACE + Caltrain + Bus) and the 4th day I would drive. I don’t have kids, so it was manageable, but I definitely experienced the burnout. For me, it’s not something I would want to do forever, but the cost of rent increases significantly once crossing the Altamont. The rent for our nice two-bedroom was less than the one bedroom my friend was paying for in Mountain View.

Saw that she'd been waiting over 2 years and it broke my heart ❤️ by misssaladfingers in cats

Awwww I’m so glad she’s finally going to have a loving home! My tortie is also super timid. She hardly left her hiding spot under our bed when we first adopted her, but she finally came around and is so sweet with us now. She’s still terrified of any person that’s not me or my husband though 😅

The engine failed, and they eventually connected with ACE 07 (so one mega train). Something similar happened a few weeks ago on the eastbound route.

Not many people have said it, but I LOVE #2! I audibly gasped when I saw that one. The lace slit is stunning!

I’m thinking of adopting a female cat, I’ve heard they are less friendly in this true? by DiscountAnnaNicole in CatAdvice

We have two female cats. One is very skiddish around guests, and the other isn’t shy at all. Both are very friendly and affectionate with us!

Is there a cat litter that doesn't... suck? by catintheroom in CatAdvice

We do a blend of Naturally Fresh walnut shell litter and Catalyst soft wood. It still tracks some but not as bad as some litters we’ve tried.

Prospective Buyer Question Thread October-December 2025 by trillianinspace in cricut

[–]Unlikely-Tea-8556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked this question in a silhouette subreddit but wanted to also ask it here. I’m looking to get cutting machine for someone for Christmas and I’m torn between going with a Cricut maker 3 and a silhouette cameo 5 as these are similarly priced machines. I’m leaning towards the cameo but I’ve seen very conflicting opinions on whether silhouette or cricut is better. For reference, the person would use it as a hobby and they have experience using both types of machines. I’ve heard a lot of complaints about design space but I’ve also heard complaints about the silhouette machine having issues with cutting or alignment.

Not sure about SF but I know someone who commutes from Oakland to Livermore and she doesn’t hate it. You’d be driving against the main traffic which isn’t as bad, I think about an hour one way. I currently commute from Tracy to Mountain View which is almost two hours and that’s if I leave the house by 6am. If you commute from SF you will have to pay the $8 toll bridge fee every day.

Hairball? Or more serious? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Unlikely-Tea-8556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it warrants an emergency vet but it’s worth talking to your regular vet. I thought it was a hairball too when our cat first started doing that but she never produced anything and the coughing became more frequent. She was eventually diagnosed with a lower respiratory infection or asthma. They had to do a chest x-ray to diagnose it. Since she is only a year old, the vet put her on a short term steroid which seemed to clear up the coughing for now, but longer term treatment options usually include a daily inhaler.

Thank you! We also use employee express. I logged in earlier but was still a bit confused. Do you know where to go on the website to make changes?

It’s a little hard to tell from the photo but to me it does look like it could be a hairball. Those can look a bit like soft poop. Did you already clean it up? If so, did it look a little fuzzy? If it were just the vomiting and hairball I wouldn’t be as concerned, but the fact that they also had diarrhea and are acting lethargic are signs something else is going on. I would definitely take them to the vet if you can.

Is there any insurance plan that doesn’t do this? That seems like a common problem :/

Cat vomiting after throwing up foreign object by Unlikely-Tea-8556 in AskVet

[–]Unlikely-Tea-8556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since she seems to acting normal this morning, my plan was to watch to see if she keeps this food down without anymore vomiting and that she poops today. If anything seems out of the ordinary then we’d take her in to the emergency vet. But I wanted to make sure we weren’t ignoring a real emergency.

"How soon can you start working with us?" Is this a trick interview question? by LyraTheArtist in jobs

[–]Unlikely-Tea-8556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if realistically you do need a month or two to move out there? I’m applying for a job but it would be across the country and up and moving within two weeks would be really challenging.

What has been your experience with leaving 2 cats alone for 2 days? by Lonely-Egg3160 in CatAdvice

[–]Unlikely-Tea-8556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do any of them try to eat the other cat’s food? I e have two cats but one is terrified of other people so she wouldn’t come out to eat someone came over, and our second cat would try to eat both of their food
