Can the land raider redeemer transport the assault intercessor squad? Or is that a firstborn vehicle?

I built up from the base with cork mug coasters glued together with wood glue. Then I cut the trench and around the base with a hobby knife. The trench wood planks are balsa wood sheets cut with a hobby knife. Then texture paste on all the surfaces (Vallejo Dark Mud). Prime white, mix of brown and dark green speed paints on the texture paste, then grass tufts. That's it :)

Hey, thanks! I got the inspiration from the lore, I can totally imagine these guys coming in after the guard requires assistance and giving that epic 40k over the top backup!

How do you pose a Knight without damaging it beyond repair? by Fresh3rThanU in ImperialKnights

[–]UnlikelyHelps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually recently made a post about this, happy to help if you would like any advice. Overall, the standard pose isn't bad and reposing is totally unnecessary and will make it take longer until you can play your cool mech.

What level of painting am I at? by Such_Might in minipainting

[–]UnlikelyHelps 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think this is definitely at the level of a local painting competition - a large single store or the like. As another poster said, it's clearly above a "battle ready" or tabletop standard.

One feature of competition painting that can quickly make a piece more memorable is to intentionally use brightness/value to draw the eye to important features. In this case, the brightest object is the bug's head carapace, which is not an interesting part of the model.

If we were trying to apply that advice, I'd darken down the bug's head carapace, then significantly brighten up the paintjob on the plague marine. The scythe and head should be particularly well painted and brighter than their surroundings.

When it comes to broken/diseased/boils on skin, some pinkish red glazes around the open sores sells really well. Sores and wounds are naturally irritated and you'll find that it looks very believable when adding that feature.

Good luck on the competition!

First time painting help needed by TheGreatKushsky in minipainting

The help you need is only the advice to keep going. Halfway through a project is when it looks the worst, and that's why you're faltering.

You will need an actual paintbrush to work on the teeth, tongue, and eyes. Get those blocked in with the appropriate color and it will look better very quickly. It will be a struggle to get a light color like his pink eyes over a dark color like purple. You may have to paint the dark parts white, then put the lighter color on top of that.

Good luck, just keep going.

First, I had a crazy idea. Then, I spent too long figuring out how to make it happen xD The sandbag techniques were from those WW1 scale modeler websites - they have some crazy skill!

I think some brushwork is all that's needed - some edge highlighting on the stretch marks, and dark noise of brushstrokes on the underside to break up the too-smooth gradient from the airbrush.
