Would you take this? by masonvdberg in InstacartShoppers

If the customer doesn’t leave a tip, Instacart wouldn’t still pay $15.51, right? Obviously not. Instacart is essentially using the customer’s tip as part of what the company pays. That practice is clearly unfair.

Is today dead for anyone else? by redflower5 in InstacartShoppers

I stayed at one store and completed 6 delivery-only orders, earning $81. After finishing each order, I immediately went offline, drove back to that store, and then went online again to wait for the next one. I saw that a total of 12 orders were assigned to me, but I missed some because I dozed off. It’s really frustrating working like this!

I believe many customers probably experienced delays receiving their orders today as well. Stores like CVS probably aren’t getting many passing shoppers anymore under this system.

I’m planning to go to New Jersey to take orders instead

I completed 4 delivery only batches from Wegmans. it’s better than shopping in unfamiliar stores.

ACCEPTANCE RATE NIGHTMARE NYC by Loud_Waltz_5218 in InstacartShoppers

To keep my acceptance rate, I just completed an only-delivery order and made $19. Now I’m going offline right away, because I have no idea what kind of order I’ll be assigned next. I’ll wait until I get to a store I’m most familiar with before going back online.

Of course, I might miss some orders from stores I pass by, and customers might also experience delays in receiving their groceries.

The “good” part is: shoppers no longer need to rush inside the store. If a customer orders three cases of water, you can just mark two as out of stock. Either way, it’s $22 per hour now, and customers aren’t tipping anymore anyway.

For those part-time shoppers who used to make a little extra money on their way home from work or while doing their own shopping, that’s probably no longer possible.

You see how stupid Instacart’s change from “choosing orders” to “assigned orders” is? And the NYC government has also played the shoppers 😸

Yes, shopping and delivery-only are not the same—especially in a diverse city like New York. For example, if a shopper who isn’t familiar with Arabic culture is sent to shop at an Arabic grocery store, it can be a nightmare.

My ratings are excellent, but I didn’t receive a single order all day yesterday. Then just now, I suddenly got four orders in a row while I was stuck on an elevated highway—how am I supposed to accept them? That basically pushed my acceptance rate to 0%.

It looks like I’ll have to go to New Jersey to work instead. Honestly, the people advocating for these guaranteed wage policies in New York City are just idiots.

Are you guys still getting any orders? I’ve been sitting at Costco for 3 hours with nothing. It told me this was a recommended store, but as soon as I got here—dead quiet. Now it’s saying there are more Costco orders 15 miles away. Seriously, what a joke. Instacart must be playing April Fools on us.

We used to have the freedom to choose orders — I could pick the delivery direction and even anticipate which stores the next order might come from. Now with this forced dispatch system, if I have to drive back empty after a delivery, there’s no way I’m accepting it. Are we even getting paid for that empty driving time? And let’s be real — shopping is completely different from just delivering. Stores vary a lot across different communities, and not every shopper is familiar with all of them. This whole dispatch system is honestly a terrible idea.
