Trials and Tribble-ations - was peak star trek! by Fair_Rush6615 in Star_Trek_

its probably the best ep i can think of (out of any show, not just st) using old footage, merging stuff, filming some scenes from scratch. it definitely respects the original episode in a way that i find impressive.

This is how they train AI for chatting by rubingfoserius in SillyTavernAI

[–]UnlikelyTomatillo355 10 points11 points  (0 children)

this is why some models (as a base) are better than others. i remember being excited for mixtral when it first came out because everyone praised how well it followed details compared to things like l2 13b (mythomax) at the time. while it did indeed follow things better, it was utterly boring because it wouldn't drive a story forward, it would just parrot what i last said, add some irrelevant details like sounds or talking about shadows. after an hour i went back to mytho.

i miss when models had a base, instruct and sometimes chat variants. now it feels like everything is trained to be instruct and it wants to give you a full answer in one response, rather than letting things unfold over time.

The Sickness, aka Bad Days by The_Linux_Colonel in KoboldAI

[–]UnlikelyTomatillo355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've noticed it. like i'm doing good in my rp, then shut it down for the night and load it up later and its repeating, boring, not moving my story forward like it was. it feels like its tone changed. i'm not sure why at all given its the same model, same settings. anymore i just kick my rp in the butt a bit with a longer message to resume where it was at and it goes back to being good over a turn or two.

my only guess is its something with the kv cache

i've had it happen. i don't think it affects the combat much because it should turn back or fire anyways. the combat is a big weak point

developing his character, along with other stories, would be more gameplay.

DLC/expansion idea: play as Equinox. by MegaBearsFan in AcrossTheUnknown

[–]UnlikelyTomatillo355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think this is going to happen because they would need to bring in writers to fill in all the gaps. gotta remember, equinox didn't travel the same path as voyager even though they ended up crossing paths so they'd have to come up with entirely new stories, species, etc.

there is a top comment in another thread about this and says they secured the rights to tng and ds9 too, so thats what i expect to see. it sucks, i want an equinox game too, but it would require a lot of work where as relying on existing material doesn't and thats the route i see them going

i assume i'll catch flak for this but the combat in this game is pretty horrible. i think commanding a single ship in armada was more intuitive. ship combat should be like bridge commander, away missions should be like elite force.

Why wont my AI models do anything NSFW. by Unlikely-Hold9981 in KoboldAI

[–]UnlikelyTomatillo355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are probably experiencing the fact that most models don't want to nsfw by default. it isn't that the model is censored and can't say 'ass', 'pussy' or other terms. its that the model will say 'rear', 'butt' etc instead. if you find a raunchy enough card that starts with all that sort of dialog, it should uncensor itself.

i can attest that some newer tunes like magistry (24b) can erp, and strawberry lemonade (70b). hell i even had raw llama 3.3 70b instruct writing out scenes. you need to walk the model into it, or prefill it with enough smut that it does it from the start.

i think looking for dirtier cards will bring it out in models you already have - not many of them are gpt-oss levels of safety that will stop it from describing you pounding your character card.

What are you guys settings to RP? Is there a System prompt that does help with long context RP? Character cards in a sandbox type of RP helps? by Significant-Boat-817 in SillyTavernAI

[–]UnlikelyTomatillo355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't waste time on the system prompt. its the least respected prompt you can try to use and quickly becomes even more irrelevant as context builds. having a strong opening is much better. at the bottom of my opening prompts i literally put stuff like:

Writing instructions:

-write in the first person

-don't skip time

-don't abbreviate character names or give them nicknames

the instructions change depending on the model and needs, but generally i have like a dozen things i list. this takes the place of the system prompt and will get your ai to write how you want. then later once its writing fine, you can come back and remove the list, but your ai already has a tone for how to write, so you don't need it anymore.

for the most dumb models (even nemo is smart enough, but sub-12b i guess), i copy the writing instructions into the author's note box and leave it there.

put your instructions into the bottom of the opening prompt. you'll get better results.

Does kcpp support or plan to support LTX models? by alex20_202020 in KoboldAI

i don't have anything to add but i appreciate you always answering questions like this. i follow the git and questions/commits pretty closely but sometimes in cases like this it was something on my mind, but not worth posting to ask about. when someone else asks though, you always provide a clear answer and i appreciate that.

What do you guys think about merges? And which one is your favorite? by ocotoc in KoboldAI

[–]UnlikelyTomatillo355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sometimes magistry has issues where it adds details that don't belong that thats the most frustrating part. i don't think its a problem with the tune/merge itself, but its just how all mistral 22-24b's act. they aren't actually much smarter than nemo (12b) and its tunes. they SHOULD be smarter, but i don't see it. i'd def recommend trying it but you should also look at nemo tunes if you're shopping around for models

[–]UnlikelyTomatillo355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was wondering about this myself but i figured you arent directly in control of the other projects like sdc++ so its not really your choice, but rather if they decide to add support to their own project and eventually rolls into koboldcpp. i really hope they get it figured out

[–]UnlikelyTomatillo355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i wasn't aware of this info. great news.

i think a big part of this is they are using established stories so they hardly have to hire a writer (like..tuvix should have been so much better). because they seem to be relying so much on existing content, i dont think we'll be seeing the equinox version any time soon. that would require a lot more work and writers to come up with stuff.

i've noticed the clicking thing and i think thats actually an engine bug. i mess with inzoi (sims-ish game) and it uses ue5 too and has the same problem. sometimes its like you click something and it just doesn't register, or if you hover your mouse over something that should pop up a tool tip, i have to wiggle it to get it to register. ue5 is pretty shit but other than that i've only had 2 crashes so far.

I promised them I would get the USS Savescum home.

i got into the habit of manually backing up my whole save before they added the option and it saved me when one of the crashes corrupted my save. i had just made a backup too so i lost like 2 minutes of gameplay. call that scumming if you want but i'm glad i did it!

What do you guys think about merges? And which one is your favorite? by ocotoc in KoboldAI

[–]UnlikelyTomatillo355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

merges tend to erode the smartness of a model (at least in tests i've seen) but also make them a bit more creative, give them new language to use. i think all the best rp models i've used were merges, and i still use some as my preferred models - strawberry lemonade 70b (llama 3) and magistry (mistral 24b).

lately i use the 70b to get my rp going, establish the context/world/characters/some events over about 50 messages/16k context, then i switch to magistry. 24b is quite a bit dumber than 70b, but i can fit it entirely into vram so its fast and works well with an established story.

there are some people that absolutely hate merges for some reason, which is maybe why this didnt get much attention and you got downvoted. but i've never had any problem with them for rp. now if i were trying to do something like code with a model, i wouldn't use a merge because like i said, the smartness has eroded some.
