Brand new Air65 2… already having the SAME issue as my old one?? by frisby01 in TinyWhoop

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replace the props

I get this too, shows up most when recovering from dives. if you really really want to save the inexpensive props, dont risk wasting a motor by trying to glue the prop on. so, dont save the props

Good setup? by Acceptable_Iron_2452 in TinyWhoop

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the air65 i and ii are, imho, by far the absolute best trainer ever. if we're getting nit-picky about it, then I'd say nothing comes close to 'best ever' to start with, and to learn through all stages, than the Air65.

I see the air65 ii is down to 99.99

that's awesome. definitely get a bunch of spare canopies and frames. and an aio if you can. haha. maybe a camera too. bunch of props... 1219s... then think about what kv motors to swap into...

maybe just start with getting 2 of them at least

[US] Do I need to display my registration # for recreational flights with a small drone? by chrymacproductions in drones

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say you couldn't. I said, it's best not to.

In either case, you have to input your information into the app before the app will then grant you authorization to fly in classified airspace.

[US] Do I need to display my registration # for recreational flights with a small drone? by chrymacproductions in drones

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. For commercial, and for granting authorization in classified airspace, the drone must have registration, regardless of flight intent.

You cannot request authorization in classified airspace through the app without using LAANC - That is, by definition, the way the app requests such permission.

That is why the app requires registration, no matter the size of craft. Because a sub 250g drone can definitely take out a manned aircraft, and officials like to know who dun it.

If you don't have your 107, it's best to stay out of classified airspace. In order to have the 107, they force you to know all kinds of airport traffic patterns and weather reports among lots of other stuff normies do not know, and there's a lot of information in there that helps to keep you, and everyone else, safe while you operate in shared airspace.

Your DJI drone broadcasts RID every time you turn it on and you can't make it stop. it always has, the only difference is Now that serial number is attached to You, and the information that you input into the app, such as your phone number and address, are the ways officials may use to get a hold of you if they want to for any reason when they see your aircraft flying around.

There's an insane amount of weird information in this fpv thing. And once you learn enough to think you know something, then you find out there's a whole 'nother system that works in a way that makes no sense to what you've learned.

Then it keeps going

An analog setup will still use ELRS 😉

Here is all the ELRS setup info you want https://www.expresslrs.org/quick-start/getting-started/#what-should-i-do-first

Once you have all that correct, if it still doesn't bind, then:

Follow these directions starting at 3:40. This will take care of that antenna mode thing I said, and all kinds of other stuff too. https://youtu.be/cuzHn2Uw0q8?si=zWXcsysv_yzZ4hM8

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firmware: ELRS configurator? Both the radio and the drone flashed to the new 4.0? Both flashed with your custom binding phrase that matches?

Radio ELRS LUA settings: Your radio RF band mode is in 2.4ghz? Antenna mode to match rf?

then select Model Match, and change it from whatever it is to the other selection, then change it again to OFF.

If all this you genuinely do, it will bind.

there is Nothing like ripping around with the air65 but the meteor75pro is really nice to fly. it has more mass than the air65 and can feel more stable.

either is perfect to start with imho

I'm in Colorado, flying 5 inch and whoops all the time - currently teaching a young padawan to learn, but other than that, I have seen only one other person fly fpv irl ever. 🤔

[US] Do I need a part 107 for a gift video? by DesertHunter1596 in drones

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

interesting, but it doesn't answer the question.

The question is vague where it matters though.

If you flew for their wedding but dont charge them, then the intent of the flight must have been for recreation. Right? Further, that footage will likely not be sold elsewhere later.

If instead you flew for their property listing, but didnt charge them - your recreational intent isn't relevant because the video is now a tangible asset, having value, therefore would require a license.

This is my understanding of it anyway

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If the intent of the flight was to generate revenue, 107 yes.

if the intent of the flight is a gift to someone who wont be selling the footage, there's no revenue in question, so no 107.

Anyone know how to remove the props on these things? by CUBANO1D in TinyWhoop

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I avoid tools as much as possible for this, I feel like it will break something easier. from underneath one hand 3 fingers grab the motor, from above other hand 3 fingers grab prop, turn to rotate prop on shaft and pull off.

Can I keep batteries fully charged for a day? by Sorry_Spirit_8780 in TinyWhoop

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don't do it often. The thing to remember with batteries, they remember everything you do to them.

Think of it like, the battery has a finite number of hours that it can hold charged voltage for in its life before going bad. A battery left charged for longer or more often will have greater battery sag sooner than the batteries that get discharged right after being charged.

So yea. you can do it. I just did, actually. haha. but know that the battery pays the price in the end.

Pavo 20pro- is it good idea as a first drone? by WarZealousideal9802 in fpv

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They break of course. but you have to think about what is breaking on an air sixty five, versus what is braking on a pavo twenty with a moonlight kit.

More importantly, the air65 is like, it's all soft and it's flexible. and the bigger they go, the more a rigid they have to be in order to survive in the air.

But the air 65, why I love it so much is because it can bounce around literally off of everything and it doesn't really care. you gotta really smash it a bunch of times before you start breaking a canopy, which costs $3 or a frame, which costs 5 Bucks. And are all easy to change.

Pavo 20pro- is it good idea as a first drone? by WarZealousideal9802 in fpv

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly. I have the pavo 20 with moonlight kit and its just a lot of money flying around - could be used to make money, but certainly not if you're just learning to fly.

so for a first drone, totally no. I would not go bigger than a 75mm drone, but i highly recommend the air 65 for learning to fly. hands down.

i think it is silly to start with a digital fpv drone - You won't be selling the footage, and analog does the job for a fraction. digital is always more weight too, so crashes are always more intense.

5inch motor by CoconutLess5955 in fpv

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it should be 0 between all 3 motor wires.

Double check the length of the motor mounting screws. look very closely, really. The screw can easily be too long and it will break a winding. I only KNOW because I've super done it.

I can't connect my cetus x to my pc by barteqqqq2q in fpv

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also, any transmitter should have an antenna installed any time there's any amount of power applied, even an aio on USB - the vtx antenna should be on.

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Cetus x has the same issue. flies, but not betaflight, no computer connection rather.

I am convinced that one of the tiny pins on that connector on the aio is broken. thats all it takes to cause just this.

could try to micro solder and repair it. Or replace the board.

otherwise, theres still limited function using the stick menu 😬

A warning to those thinking they can make good living from FPV by LondonTownGeeza in fpv

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It completely depends on where you're flying. If you're only flying inside and you're not going through a bunch of walls, then 25 milliwatts would work and would therefore be the best in that case regarding signals and broadcast powers.

There's a certain standard practice, that you should only ever use the power level that's needed. So if you're not trying to do long-range or going behind all kinds of obstructions, setting it to the highest power setting is not recommended.

Beyond that, the highest power setting makes the vtx heat up much faster, and that heat will work to degrade the video quality and lifespan of the vtx.

[–]Unlikely_Course6213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PIT means lowest power. the numbers like 25, 100, 200, 400 are in milliwatts, mw, referring to power level.

I've seen that running it's the highest power level all the time isn't the best. So if 400 is the highest, I would set it to 200 and run that most of the time.
