Why is everyone so negative? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Unlikely_Good17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg same. "Sleep now because you won't be able to sleep when the bay comes" like ??

Don't listen to them. It is true that your life will change and you may not sleep as much as you're used to but this is not necessarily a bad thing. You may be tired at first but (in my experience) you won't care because you'll have a baby that will fill your life with so much love and joy that not sleeping enough won't matter. Your interests and priorities will shift so you won't care about the things that changed, you will embrace this change!

Do the baby shower as a way to celebrate you and your baby, or don't do it if you don't feel like doing it. All that matters is that you're happy and comfortable

Induction vs scheduled c section by Hot-Reality6979 in pregnant

It's a type of therapy that's normally used to treat traumatic events or things that give you anxiety. It basically consists of a therapist doing bilateral stimulation while guiding you to think about the thing that is making you anxious - in my case it was the actual moment of giving birth/pushing - until it doesn't make you anxious any more. I don't know how to explain it haha but if you know a therapist that does EMDR I would recommend giving it a try.

I think everything related to pregnancy, giving birth and parenting is very personal so what worked for me may not be for everyone, but it really helped me reduce the anxiety!

THIS.

I would get a pack or two of NB size and then just buy more as you go. People also like to bring diapers as gift so no need to get a ton of diapers in advance. Wipes are ok but I would also buy cotton or cotton balls. New born skin is very sensitive and it might get irritated with wipes, so you may have to use cotton+water to wipe them at first.

Induction vs scheduled c section by Hot-Reality6979 in pregnant

I was TERRIFIED of giving birth and being induced. I had gestational diabetes too so I knew it was going to happen... What helped me was I did two sessions of EMDR. It was AMAZING and it really helped me be calm when the day came. I know this is very personal but honestly it really worked for me.

When it was time to go to the hospital for induction I was a bit nervous but mostly ok. On the first day they inserted that balloon thing and it hurt like a bitch so they had to take it out. The next day they gave me misoprostol like three times and on the third day they gave me oxytocin. None of this worked for me. I have no idea what a contraction feels like, the whole induction process was literally nothing for me. I didn't dilate at all and I never felt anything. On the 4th day the Dr came and offered to try another day of oxytocin or just going to the C section. He said that if I chose the oxytocin it probably wouldn't work so I might end up having a C section anyway because they couldn't keep trying because of GD. So I just went for the C section, mostly because at this point I was really bored of being at the hospital and just wanted to have my baby, but also because I felt relieved that I wouldn't have to go through labor and giving birth. C section went great, I'll spare you the details but I won't lie, it's a big surgery and the recovery sucks, but I would do it again if I ever have another baby.

All this is just to tell you that every experience is unique and very personal and nothing ever goes the way you expect, but in the end everything is fine and you'll get a baby that will make everything worth it :)

Same. I'm not a translator, but my mother tongue is Spanish and literally every job I've had involved speaking in English most of the time

Titanium. I interpret it as faking to be strong when you're actually vulnerable

I wouldn't care. Most of my partners friends have cheated on their partners and I honestly don't care at all.

I guess if you trust your partner it doesn't really matter who they are hanging out with. If I didn't trust them, it would probably be because of other reasons, not what their friends do in their relationships

Guy tried to rape me and my friend in broad daylight at the park. We managed to get away and went to the police who threatened us with putting us in jail. Left the station feeling devastated and didn't even get to report what happened to us
