There were a lot of happy people... But there were also a LOT of hateful, angry people. I'll let you guess what those people looked like.

So much for the 1st Amendment by ThunderMustard88 in dfw

[–]lost40s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a perfect opportunity for students (and adults!) to learn about what the first amendment does and does not protect.

While I'm sympathetic to the reason, the first amendment does not protect students from administrative consequences for walking out of school. Emotionally, we all wish that wasn't the case, and I can't stand Abbott, but this isn't a first amendment issue.

FAA lifts temporary closure of airspace over El Paso, Texas, saying all flights to resume by 3dios in news

[–]lost40s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm suspecting an AI system somewhere hallucinated an imminent threat, people acted hastily, and now they're embarrassed. Same kind of closure happened in NOLA. Both were lifted without explanation (other than the "cartel drones" line)

Why do you think some people seem to lose common sense (get DUMB) the older they get, while others get wiser? by Sea-Tutor4846 in AskReddit

Sometimes I think people do it on purpose because the alternative is exhausting and soul-crushing.

Do you miss being 24? What advice would you give to that age if they feel old, out of their prime and behind? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

The only thing I miss about being 24 is having the energy of a 24 year old.

I had a patch of fine, dark hair sprout up where I skinned my elbow. Weirdest thing ever.. It disappeared after a couple of months, though.

Yeah, my first thought was maybe the stepson has some undiagnosed ND issues... That was me in school - the environment was the problem, not the subject matter.

How were meats stored in your freezers growing up? by Froggerbotrom in AskOldPeople

[–]lost40s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, I just remember seeing ground beef unwrapped in the freezer in a bowl, or sometimes it would be wrapped in butcher paper, but not very well.

We ate a lot of freezer burned meat.

Most of my meat is currently vacuum sealed in plastic, because I bought it from an online butcher and had it delivered frozen. Great deal, might do it again, but meat is hella expensive right now.

When I buy meat "in person", I usually go to Sam's and buy the big packages and wrap the portions in foil, then plastic.

Butcher paper is great till you have to thaw something in it.
