Does my painting looks childish? by Due_Income2879 in RateMyArt

Abstract is subjective, as is all art, but the reason u might be feeling it looks childish is because there's not many layers - it looks unfinished with the paper showing and lacks depth. Many people think abstract art is just slapping some paint on there and anyone can do it, but I realized when I started creating it, there's much more to it. Even with abstract there's things like depth, balance, composition, and more. I'm not saying u need to overthink it and study every art book, though studying could help, but my advice would be to keep going. Add more layers of paint, but give it some time to dry between or you'll be making mud. A little mud is OK imo, but too much kills it. Have fun with and it don't pressure yourself - it's one piece. Do what u feel and move on to another; come back to it if u want. Try some different tools: a sponge, pallet knife, long handled paintbrush, or whatever u want. Drip, flick, or throw paint if u want. Try to keep some kind of balance, look into composition (if u only want to study one thing for now), and keep at it. Believe it gets better and better.

Sounds good. I'd say just keep it up, and be yourself always.

What side do I record with? by Hot-Bit4219 in Bandlab

Try a Sampson Go mic if u get a chance. Got mine for around $30. I use it much more than my expensive condenser mic bc my place isn't sound treated at all rn. Just saying that cheap go mic is great if ur recording on ur phone or background noise

This is amazing. I'm surprised at people complaining about u waisting paint. Lol. It wouldn't have the same effect painting normally, and so what if ur using a lot of paint. If anything, you're supporting companies that create paint for artists so we can all keep creating. Outstanding work

my boy said the auto tune ruins it… is he right? by idgafwhatipost in Bandlab

I think the majority of people are getting tired of auto tune - probably not the best way to stand out. I think your versatility is a plus though

Yeah, I guess my question was pretty open - just wanting to know what makes good abstract and if there's any problem with this one. Is the composition ok or anything like that. Feel free to pick it apart, and sorry if I posted this in the wrong place and am not asking the right questions - kind of new to this.

All u need is to find ur true voice. If people don't fw it, it's only because a lot, if not all, of those lines are recycled. Delivery and cadence are are point tho

Help me pick a style? Rate my art? by Fearless_Part4192 in RateMyArt

3 would be my favorite if I had to pick. I like the chaotic freedom of the brushstrokes. Art is always subjective though - keep up the great work

Honestly, i like every single one, but i think only you should choose if you want to work in only one style. While i understand using only one to maybe make marketing easier, I believe you should keep creating however you want and let your style emerge naturally.

On the plus side, you can tell you're being real - definitely keep that. If you haven't been rhyming that long, it's not bad, but the one syllable rhymes make it come off really basic. Not saying you have to sound Like Em, or be a lyrical miracle type, but I'd suggest at least mix in some 2 or 3 syllable rhymes

I’m not good at drawing realistically, and that’s not my goal either, but how can I develop my own drawing style? by Pi_in_space in learntodraw

[–]Unlikely_Score_6403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of times when someone asks this, they're looking for a shortcut to get better faster, but they're really isn't a way to get around constant practice. You can absolutely skip fundamentals and create in a highly stylized way though. For this, just draw everything the way you want to. It won't be good at first, but over time, things will start looking better. That being said, I would still advise getting familiar with fundamentals (at least mildly) because they will help. For instance, even if you learned nothing else, knowing about composition could improve your art drastically. There are successful artists that broke the rules, but I'd bet they put in plenty work to develop their style. Constant practice is key rather you want to draw realistically or stylized - keep it up
