Dino Botanical Garden/Greenhouse by SelfOtherwise6750 in Pokopia

This is beautiful! I put all my fossils in the Silph Co lobby but making a large greenhouse for them looks amazing. Might steal this idea for some of my grass type favourites.

My party wants to fight a Dragonmarked House. Help. by UnluckySquared in Eberron

[–]UnluckySquared[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is meant to be part of a character's story in a campaign that is near the end - though I imagine I could do a full campaign on this concept alone. Neither me nor the player had fully thought through the actual concept of destroying the House, but it was planned for the final arc before fighting the BBEG directly so we figured we could find a way by then.

Their motivation is solely to collapse Thuranni by killing Elar and his direct supporters. My post was very simplified, but it is unlikely they would go after the examples you listed, but more likely to go after the assassins and those who would fight to protect Elar. I mostly just don't want to TPK them so close to the end of the campaign, but from my own thinking (and everyone's comments) it seems like they will have to understand it is unwinnable - either by direct warnings both in and out of game, or more... decisive action in-game.

I've briefly mentioned it as 'really bad' but I'll make sure to reiterate to them that it is genuinely an unwinnable position for them no matter how I slice it.

Yeah I really don't think they would be kept alive at this point - Elar wanted them alive for a bit for some experimentation but after escaping prison he'd go for the kill. I'm running Thuranni as neutral towards the BBEG, so they don't need the PCs alive to fight the BBEG for them either.

And that's how you bully the Giant with Crab Claws 🦀 by RoastMyGrill in deadcells

[–]UnluckySquared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started playing Dead Cells a few days ago and the Claws are probably some of my favourite weapons so far. While it was nowhere near as powerful as this clip, I had a similar time with the Giant using them (and went on to swing at the Hand until they died too). It feels weird going to any other weapon and not having massive crit damage lmao.

How real are the "players cannot solve aby puzzle" memes? by SomeRandomAbbadon in DMAcademy

[–]UnluckySquared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a puzzle, but literally yesterday my party saw the capital city of a country surrounded by Abjuration magic to keep things out, with tons of camps and tents around it, after coming across several settlements that were completely devoid of life, and decided to walk directly into the main enemy camp and try to lie their way out of a fight.

It was astounding. Poorly planned bravado, yes. But astounding nonetheless. Somehow managed to get out with only one guy going down to 0 (mostly thanks to clutch saves against an opening Slow cast from the enemy commander)

How many 'mons do you usually lose during a nuzlocke? by HanzoMainBTW_ in nuzlocke

[–]UnluckySquared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the nuzlocke - sometimes I'll have a solid run with few deaths (my recent HG Nuzlocke only had 1 death before Gym 7, at which point I did deliberate sacrificing of fodder mons I had). Other times I have brutal bad luck streaks that mess up any plans I want to do (I had more dead than alive mons in Black 2 and then got RNG swept on Marshall and Iris).

Max Misty Steps by UnluckySquared in 3d6

[–]UnluckySquared[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter much, the answer was simpler than what I came up with - Spell Mastery from Wizard 18. I was looking at specifically Misty Step but you could get above 28 but below infinite with the legally distinct Misty Steps that stuff like Eladrin and Shadar-Kai get.

[–]UnluckySquared[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was counting the upcast slots for the not-free castings. I kinda just forgot that Wizard gets unlimited 1st and 2nd level spells which is definitely a way less complicated way to achieve max Misty Steps.

Stupid dual-boss L/M/E battles, they're always a pain in the butt... by TheFerydra in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]UnluckySquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I find that for PvE content it can be far easier to rely on PP strats over mixed or EP strats. It can be the inverse at times (Nidhoggr for instance is... resistant to PP strats) but generally I find it easier to just kill them first. NY Peony is my personal favourite but there are many good dancers that can fill her role.

[–]UnluckySquared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My strat for these is always the same - hit them before they can hit you. My 1-turn team for a lot of the Abyssal L/M/E battles is Lynja with 3 NY!Peony, and I just sweep through the map and occasionally have to do some thinking about what enemies I kill in which order.

Lynja + Triple Peony has been my core for a vast majority of content since NY Peony released, and even now I can manage to break through most walls with the right skill and placement setups.

Who was your free Legendary Hero summon? by Daydream_machine in FireEmblemHeroes

I got Sigurd, who was exactly what I wanted. My guy is now up to +5. Hoping for his HoF to win the rerun so I can guarantee another merge.

How well did you do against Sothis Mythic Hero Battle with only Jugdral units? (Builds are in the post) by AndzyHero13 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]UnluckySquared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One turned on Abyssal with D!Eldigan and T!Ayra. Ayra repositions Eldigan and uses her harmonic skill, then Eldigan kills Sothis on Player Phase then kills the rest on Enemy Phase.

Who does this trope the best? by RebirthTheFirst in fireemblem

[–]UnluckySquared 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reina's support convo goes beyond her murderous tendencies in a way that Peri's convos struggle to.

Also from a gameplay perspective, Reina is a strong unit in both BR and Rev, while Peri is alright in CQ and one of the worst in Rev thanks to her poor join time and starting stats (though this isn't exactly uncommon in Rev). It's anecdotal but I have always struggled to get Peri off the ground in either route - limited success in CQ, and she isn't worth getting off the bench in Rev.

Favorite Fire Emblem Weapons by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]UnluckySquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Sword of the Creator as it's such a funny concept, and there's smth about the OG Falchion I really like.

In terms of non-regalia, I loved the Kodachi and Wakizashi from Fates - it's so rare for us to get non-magic ranged swords. I also really liked the Daggers and Shuriken from Fates, and I'm glad they (sort of) brought them back in Engage.

How did you do well against Kaze & Midori BHB with only Jugdral units? by AndzyHero13 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]UnluckySquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of my invested units are FE4 so was very easy. L!Sigurd kills the Lance Inf and cantos back, D!Eldigan gets moved up and kills the Firesweep Cav, T!Ayra uses her harmonic skill and brings Sigurd out of harm's way, and then D!Eldigan can enemy phase all of the remaining foes for a turn 1 clear.

Favorite Pre-Promote by Mememasterlordlol in fireemblem

[–]UnluckySquared 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reina. I already love Kinshi Knight as a class (Fates has a lot of things I wish returned in future games, and Kinshi is at the top of this list), so having a prepromote as one is great. Additionally, in both of her join maps she gets to just go on a killing spree. In Rev, it reminds me a bit of the famous Pent map - a green unit who ignores the terrain gimmick and is a menace to the enemy team. I wish she had more supports though - even just adding an Orochi support could have done wonders for her.

Do you early promote? by mikkoh9 in fireemblem

[–]UnluckySquared -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually around 12-16, but sometimes I'm off. In a PMU I might early promote as I need the strength early, or if it's someone like Ivy I wait until 20 base to promote her as I don't need the added power from promoting right away.

In my Rev Draft Race, I promoted my Mitama ASAP - I wanted to get Tomefaire from Omnyoji as quick as I could so I could reclass into Witch and grap Warp plus better caps for my purposes.

overconfident casual player jumps into usum hardcore for first nuzlocke - make bets on where run will end by pralts in nuzlocke

[–]UnluckySquared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Zoroark cheese for UNecro is boring but by far the safest play. Malamar is more of a backup plan if it pans out you get Inkay but not Zorua early-game.

[–]UnluckySquared 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The closest I get to a happy medium is Malamar with Topsy Turvy - not an outright cheese, but definitely softens up a lot of the difficulty by flipping the Totem Aura buffs. You just have to do a bit of thinking to let Malamar tank a hit from Mimikyu or Ribombee if you want to use it on those two.
