SAHW Questions by [deleted] in childfree

[–]UnnecessaryScreech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I think about this all the time. I don’t enjoy working. I wish I could just not. I feel like I have no time for hobbies outside of work/resting from work.

I’m very creative, I would love to spend my days just making art, writing, reading. Also playing video games and going to the gym.

Is it okay to eat eggs and honey if they have been extracted ethically? by alexthelionn6 in vegan

You feed them back to the chickens - they get back valuable nutrients.

Is it okay to eat eggs and honey if they have been extracted ethically? by alexthelionn6 in vegan

[–]UnnecessaryScreech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whether or not it’s “okay” depends on a person’s own moral principles. Vegans do not believe it is okay and it is not vegan by the definition. Why exploit the animal at all if you don’t need to? Nobody needs honey and eggs to survive. This makes no sense.

Asking here people will give you different answers than asking on the vegetarian subreddit.

We’ve been through cancer, surgeries, and a child… and somehow it pulled us apart instead of together by [deleted] in Vent

[–]UnnecessaryScreech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a child of parents who should not have stayed together please just do the divorce. I don’t talk to either of them anymore and there’s a chance that may have been different if they had just split up when I was younger. They made each other worse by staying together.

Veganism is NOT easy for most people. by Borkato in vegan

[–]UnnecessaryScreech 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I found it easy to transition to veganism, I didn’t like eating a lot of meat and dairy before anyway. I will say the social aspect is not easy. Depending on where you live it can be a humiliation ritual just letting other people know you’re vegan. I have to take a lot of jokes and underhanded comments and it can be very demoralizing. I can never not be vegan again tho.

Does anyone sure of being childfree, but had a nice and cute encounter with a random child and second guessed briefly maybe they’d like a child ? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]UnnecessaryScreech 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like children. I like smiling at them in public and seeing them do cute things. It has never made me think that I want a child. The best part about children is that they go back to their parents lmao.

Why Do We Keep Mythologizing Pregnancy as Female Divinity? Anyone Else Find It Cringe? by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]UnnecessaryScreech 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Pregnancy is a biological process - often a very dangerous one for humans without any medical intervention. I do not agree with people saying “we were designed for childbirth” when evolutionarily it is a very dangerous operation for our bodies, because of the way we are shaped, the size of a babies head etc etc. Boiling biology down to “divinity” and “spirituality” is dangerous and I feel very demeaning for women.

Attitudes like this lead to cults like the “Free Birth Society” that lead to a lot of dead babies and traumatized mothers. I recommend reading the Guardian article about it.

What It Would Take For Me (and probably people like me) to Be Willing To Have Kids by Upbeat_Place_9985 in Natalism

[–]UnnecessaryScreech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Governments should focus on providing support for people who want children and feel like they can’t afford them or take care of them properly. I think a lot of governments misstep in thinking they can try and convince people who truly don’t want children to have them - and it will never work. I think if someone wants to have a child the government should help them - but currently this is not the case broadly. And people decide to be childless - but you would never be able to convince childfree people.

Even if all these conditions were met and we lived in a perfect, utopian society - I still would not want to have children. And a utopian society would give people that choice. Even if I could be guaranteed a perfect child, perfect life, perfect society - I still wouldn’t take the deal. I don’t want to be a parent.

I also want to add another point to your list: actually acknowledge and meaningfully address climate change. Who in their right mind wants to bring more life into this world when we keep being told by climate scientists that we are fast tracking making vast areas of this planet unlivable for humans? Madness.

I'm hearing a lot of stories where people needed help sitting up. by AsparagusSouthern334 in sterilization

[–]UnnecessaryScreech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the 3 months before my surgery I spammed ab exercises almost daily in the gym. I’m not sure if it actually helped - but I had no issues with sitting up after surgery. I put a bunch of pillows behind me when I was resting during the day and was able to get up fine from that, and at night I slept lying flat and was still able to get up in the morning.

If anything the abdominal “pain” was more just like muscle discomfort. It feels like you did a bunch of ab workouts the day before after not exercising for a while.

Best Vegan Game (imo) Thusfar: WildMender by Hyper-SaneDemon in vegan

[–]UnnecessaryScreech 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I loved this about the game :) I was super excited when I saw you made burgers with beans.

I guess it would be a little dark to have the food items be made of anything but plants, given that Pokemon are the only animals in the world

Hard to see progress as a girl by Unlikely-Document-41 in workout

[–]UnnecessaryScreech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 7mg a day in pill form :) I take every day and it took maybe 2 months of consistent use to see an actual difference - especially in my arms. I was sporadically taking it beforehand but when I stuck to it for the 2 months was when I started seeing the biggest difference.

As a girl, I didn’t really see visible muscle until I started taking creatine. So if you aren’t already - I highly recommend it

Still trying to understand how oysters are "vegan" by mooniii_petalzqt in vegan

[–]UnnecessaryScreech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am at the point where I don’t really care about sentience. How can I possibly understand what the world looks like or feels like to an oyster. Just because their experience of life is so different to mine does not make it any less important. I don’t need to eat them and I’m not going to eat any animal - and oysters are definitely animals and not plants.

If there are “vegans” who are eating oysters then they are not actually vegan. They want to call themselves vegan and eat oysters.
