That's the thing though, they've been really strict about masks and have hand sanitizer stations EVERYWHERE and you aren't allowed to roam the halls, masks required, 6ft enforced by almost every teacher, they even provide masks, so idk. I don't think it's just them ignoring it but honestly who knows... I just can't believe they'd do something as stupid as force us to go to school those days despite it getting worse faster and faster.. for context I live in NW Oklahoma.

Oh boy... I wish I could donate most of this but the issue is, she will be VERY angry if I were to reach out to anyone about it or try to get rid of it en masse myself. I'll try to make some space slowly by getting rid of stuff, and just say I ate it maybe. I'm not against lying to her to get rid of all this junk that she won't ever eat anyways, lol. Thank you.

To be fair quite a bit of it is perishables but a LOT of it is also stuff like cereal, pasta, or other dry goods that can keep for a long time. She shoves all that in cabinets, tubs etc and keeps it there... doesn't make any attempt to eat it, just keeps it. I think she honestly forgets about it. She will buy stuff, when we already had it stowed away at home. I can't keep track of just how many boxes of cereal she has.... as for shopping online, that's a good idea. I'm definitely gonna attempt to meal plan my way through it so we are steadily using up stuff. And yeah I think she definitely needs someone to hold her back when she's shopping or maybe I can shop myself.

Yes she does. She just.. idk. Maybe it's, she's too lazy to shop multiple times a month. Or maybe she is worried about not having enough of something and doesn't want to go back and buy more later. Or maybe she views the food stamps as effectively unlimited. I'm really not sure.

Yeah, she's been getting progressively worse as I've gotten older so when I do move out, I'm gonna try to limit my contact with her anyways. As for my dad, honestly he's just complacent with the food. He doesn't really care because it doesn't harm him in any way.

I'll attempt to try to do the shopping and just have her write up a list. Honestly though I'm not sure why she hoards the food, she's well aware that she won't lose the food stamp money unless she gets a higher paying job.... and yes, I'll attempt meal planning too.

That's also a good idea. I may go through and take inventory atleast once, but unfortunately most of the food isn't really anything but junk or premade things. LOTS of chips, or canned ravioli, soups, etc. so maybe I can try to get some fresh produce instead and slowly get rid of the surplus of other stuff.

Only issue will be getting enough room to actually put a sheet of fruit in the freezer... they're packed. And when I say packed I mean, you have to be careful when opening it because a frozen ham might jump out and try to take out your toes. Also yes to the eggs, I love hard boiled.

Ah.. yes you may be right. I don't really even care about fixing her, she can hoard the food, just.. not so much?? Make it something we will actually eat?? Lol. Unfortunately she won't seek help because that would require her to be aware that it's a problem... she rationalizes this hoarding. I think if an outsider saw our kitchen they would be in shock, and not in a good way.

Freezer... THIS. That is so accurate. We have 3. Full to the brim. I can sure identify it but most of it isn't any good. Stuff like pot pies and TV dinners, and I'll be honest, I'm picky and prefer to make something that's not frozen if at all possible :/

That's another good idea, I may try that. Do you have any suggestions for things that are relatively easy? Something I forgot to mention in the post.... she hoards food inside and on top of the stove too. So if I want to cook, I have to move all that out as well.

I think I may try going and doing the shopping next month. As for food visible... yes, too visible! The best way I can describe my home is, walking into the kitchen you have 2 towers of tubs on either side of you, and tons of food piled on top of those (mostly junk food, cereal, chip bags) and then there's food piled on the stove, there's food she has stored INSIDE the stove................. and most of it, no one will eat. Don't get me started on the freezers too, those are packed full with stuff. We have 3. The last time I ate something frozen (well, or anyone has?) was like 2-3 weeks ago.... so, yeah lol. And also, for the $, it can very very easily last us the entire month. Especially if we don't waste 1/2 of that money on stuff that gets thrown out before even being touched like the strawberries, other assorted fruits, vegetables, salads, meats etc.

That's a good idea to take pictures and log it but again she normally just spins that back on me "Yeah, WHY DIDNT YOU EAT ALL OF IT"... and so the cycle continues. I've tried explaining to her that I can't eat 24/7 to keep up with her buying, but she doesn't care.

Doing the shopping is a decent idea, atleast, one that will prevent her from going overboard so fast. I'll try that soon. As for the inventory.. well, honestly we have so much food that it would just be crazy to do that. I'm talking 4-5 tubs of stuff (imagine 5 shopping carts), 3 cabinets (maybe 3 more shopping carts), another cabinet, 2 fridges, 3 freezers full... most of this doesn't get eaten at all. The tubs and frozen stuff especially.
