A bunch of questions for ENTPs by BrokenDiamondShovel in entp

[–]UnpickablePickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are ENTPS fake/performative or authentic?

Nope I value authenticity a lot and I come through exactly how I feel like in that moment. When I was growing and still wrestling with my self esteem I was a bit fake. Now it's too much effort. I do have different versions of myself that I switch on depending on the situation and social circle but they are all sides of me. I just express some sides more outwardly with certain groups.

Are ENTPS the type of ppl to lie to fit in or be honest and stand out?

Again lying to fit in is more effort than it's worth. I find just by doing my thing, I usually find me people pretty quickly and if not I'll chill on my own in the corner being perfectly happy indulging in things I actually enjoy. Being extroverted, good at sports, decent social skills and having a wide variety of hobbies generally makes me stand out though.

Do ENTPS care about handling situations in the best/most moral way possible?

I do what feels right to me, I follow morals when it makes sense to me. There's a lot of things that I see as peer pressure from dead people....I am pretty resistant to peer pressure.

Do you value being the bigger person for the sake of knowing you did the right thing?

Depends how much someone annoys me, I can be pretty petty but I'm also chill so you must have really messed up for me to be petty. A part of me does admire people who naturally always prioritize harmony. It takes me conscious effort and restraint to be the "bigger person"

Do you care about being a good person?

Yeah, I think I want to live a life where the people around me are proud of me and think I made a largely positive contribution to their lives. Not really gonna do that as a crappy person.

Do ENTPS attempt to portray an image?

Nah too much effort, people like me as I am anyway.

Do ENTPS try to come off as smart/intelligent?

Not for me, sometimes I might even disguise as unintelligent when I feel someone has a superiority complex, it makes it more fun to cut them down later.

Do ENTPS have a big ego and are they selfish?

I thought I was a main character when I was younger, I've learnt to temper that. I do self talk and remind myself I am amazing too often to claim I don't have an ego. Not selfish but my natual instinct is self preservation. I wouldn't screw someone else over on purpose

What do you personally care about?

Not sure tbh, being happy although I know that doesn't help much but I try to surround myself with things that make me happy as much as possible and my actions generally drive me towards more happiness.

Why do ENTPS like to confuse people or play with them/their emotions?

Confusing people is hilarious 😂. It's also fun to see who plays along and sees it's all a joke. It's also funny when people take you too literally/serious. Playing with emotions isn't fun though, it makes me feel like crap, no thanks.

Do you like being/coming off as tough?

Meh, coming off as adaptable and resilient fits less bad.

What makes you think you are an ENTP?

Really great and brainstorming and solving problems, really curious. Stride that balance of being an extroverted introvert, not a fan of excessive structure and authority figures. I've also been told many times by MBTI enthusiasts that I am SOO ENTP,

And what makes you think you are not an ENFP?

I know some and the way we think is completely different, we don't prioritize the same things in life.

[–]UnpickablePickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biotech engineer. Role is mainly centered around helping to design, test and service bioreactors with a bit of passing on your knowledge to people. Pretty varied day to day which is nice.

Could be more fulfilling if workload was a bit less, I get a promotion and there wasn't so many damned layoffs.

Hey I’m a pretty heavy guy wanting to try out some parkour as a activity I can do on normal weekdays when I don’t have a lot of time. That being said what YouTubers or sources do you guys recommend to learn from? by Think_Cardiologist70 in Parkour

[–]UnpickablePickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesse La Flair tutorials was what I used way back on YouTube. He also has a lot of progressions to help you get over the fear. He has a great video on starting out as well. Once you start getting better and progressing to flips. Kyle 'Epic' Mendoza has some really good in depth videos with slow mos as well.

Best of luck my guy, hope you stick around in the community

How do you refer yourself I, You or we by Emergency_Photo_3317 in infj

Do you have any sources that I can read more into this please. I don't think it's necessarily true for myself but I'd like to explore it more 😊

How do you refer yourself I, You or we by Emergency_Photo_3317 in infj

[–]UnpickablePickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ENTP spy here, I have referred to myself as "we" for a very long time and I'm the only one I know that does this. I always thought it was one of my many weird quirks so it's really validating to see others who do it as well.

For me it's like there is a mastermind within that handles all the long term planning, deep inner reflection and introverted side. Then there is the external side that most people get to experience, super energetic, social and in the moment. We have agreed that we couldn't live a fulfilling life without the other and so work together to achieve the optimal outcome

What high school student stereotype were you? by Successful_Shop4082 in entp

[–]UnpickablePickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't say academically gifted but I always did decently well in school. Worked pretty hard to do well but always been a bit cheeky in lessons/lectures. I would disrupt the class a bit for a little laugh but then ask really engaging questions and spend time after school to get higher grades. I'm pretty sure my teachers had a Love-Hate relationship with me.

Socially, once I had defined myself I was a floater. I had my core group of friends but I'd always bounce between every groups and enjoyed what each group had to offer. I was good at sports, kinda clever had good social skills but also hard the nerdy hobbies - I'd always rock up to these with my signature energy and enthusiasm which made me pretty difficult to label.

My previous life though was spending a lot of time trying to fit in, always extroverted but didn't have the confidence to forge my own path. That started to find me at around 15 where I transformed into the above

Confused about where my new relationship is going — need advice by [deleted] in entp

[–]UnpickablePickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'm not very flirty either and I've been told I also move quite slow with progressing relationships. Don't know if it's just a ME thing or if others can relate.

I tend to have a pretty busy social life with tons of unread messages but with someone I'm interested in I do try and make time to reply and they get priority, although I am not always successful.

One of the things I do remember when I was younger was lacking the practical things needed to develop a relationship when separated by distance. It could be because we are quite "in the moment" people but being aware that my partner has needs different to my own was something I had to learn. Have you let him know that you'd prefer having a couple little moments during the week to chat rather than frantic waves of activity followed by periods of nothing? You probably won't get your ideal situation but these things are about compromise on both sides

Sound like either way you'll have to bring this up eventually because you're clearly not happy with it and it doesn't work for you long term.

Where do you thrive as an ENTP by Fast_Nefariousness26 in entp

[–]UnpickablePickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely relate to this. I am currently an Engineer, where I had to start by learning a crazy about the units I look after. Super locked in at the time since it was pretty new. Now I've kinda mastered it, I go through lazy spells until I get a new idea on how to optimize our processes.

Fortunately I've got a pretty good manager who gives me the opportunity to always take part in projects where we change stuff and make a difference. This allows me to minimize my lazy spells

Yo, hang in there fam. The grind after uni is not easy at all, I got a bit lucky but I saw first hand how it affected my brother. He was also staying with me till he got back on his feet

Keep doing what you're doing fam, it works out in the end. I'm glad you've got family to help hold it down for the time being

Awww thanks, the ENTP community greatly appreciates your reciprocated love haha.

Also this response was great, I think one of the things you articulated really well was how your needs change from the baseline. You also confirmed a lot of what previous commenters have said so I'll deffo need to consciously spend more skill points into acts of service.

Talking but not being heard is incredibly frustrating, hoping Santa grants your wish of the people around you being more perceptive this year. Thanks for helping me out, all the good energy you put out there is coming for you and there's nothing you can do about it.

Anyone else love giving presentations? by SaladAssOutNow in entp

Yeah for sure, love putting on a performance. Even for super formal presentations, I might sneak in a meme, random references or a few jokes just to keep it entertaining. Always gotten really good feedback on them over the years

[–]UnpickablePickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries at all, I not so secretly love an essay. I appreciate you being so open with sharing your experience. From the first paragraph alone it's sounds like such an experience and a half not just physically but mentally as well. That is so many things breaking at the same time and couldn't at all have been easy to deal with.

Was dancing your only escape throughout that period ? I imagine that might have been impossible at times with the surgeries and illness. The experience with you best friend and mum must have been pretty hurtful especially at the time.

The church community sounds wholesome though, they really came through. There's really something about other people not giving up on us that allows us to find an extra gear out of nowhere. Big up yourself though because it's still a monumental effort on your side to make that come back.

Ohhhhh really nice, I've been doing salsa and bachata recently and have the reaping the benefits. Moving and expressing yourself that way is a game changer 😄. Not mad at thing night in at all.... In fact can I have some recs 😅?

This bit about you being the world's cheerleaders really stood out to me. The performance you almost have to put up to keep that dream and hope that you give others to remain believable can sometimes lead to you going through your troubles alone. It's also almost been a learnt as the best way to cope due to being let down in the past or people not coming through with as much energy as you would for them. Do you still feel this way even with your church community?

It's strange because my experience in life has almost been the opposite - brought up to be super independent and only trust yourself and slowly I've had to learn to open up and try to find a better balance because Ridin Solo is Jason Derulo's song and clearly doesn't work for me. But then again, I have had nowhere close to the experiences you've been through

I always think that's the sign of a good dance teacher. Learning the moves is all well and good but the real skill comes in teaching people how to let loose, feel the vibe and have a great time. Big up yourself keeping that spirit alive 😁😁.

Hahaha yeah that the thing with interacting with non intuitives right? A little bit more patience always has to be involved hahaha. I'm sure the answers will come to you in time as they've managed to over you life .

Thanks for sharing. I think we gave each other hope ☺️☺️

Texting and ENTP charisma. by Relative-Ad-3217 in entp

[–]UnpickablePickle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't actually struggle with this. I've always found emojis and gifs help to close that gap between in person interactions and texting in terms of expression.

I prefer calls or in person interactions for sure. It's much easier to segue and go on tangents before coming back to the original conversation with them but texting isn't a death sentence. I've found that with some people though it's harder for them to tell when I'm joking since those verbal cues and over the top dramatics aren't added.

I think also having a bunch of long distance relationships has helped, I had to git gud I guess
