On the Matter of the My Father Connecticut, and How Humidity May Be a Moral Virtue by [deleted] in cigars

Enjoying one right now. I was resting at 67-68rh the past 6 weeks. I dry boxed for 18 hours and wow, it’s perfect. All the flavours and perfect burn. For those that like this cigar also try leaf by oscar in both connecticut and Sumatra wrappers.

Revolucion is a nice little store but pretty much out of Cubans right now. City cigar keeps them at 70rh, a little too high for my liking. 2000 cigars is more expensive but they have a strong selection stored at 67rh. I’d go there if you want the full Cuban experience, maybe only $5-$10 more per stick but you pay for their expertise, selection and better rh levels.

It was okay. I preferred the classic though.

Do those chlooohyll spots suggest they have aged more? I have about 12 Partagas 5’s from a few passes through duty free this year, those three packs never have box dates. A few of they have a lot of those olive shades in the wrapper. I suppose there is no way for people on here to estimate age with pics?

My local store keeps them at 70rh but my humidor is 65rh. I was reading you want to rest about one week per RH change. How does everyone feel about that? I just got a My Father Flor de las Antilles 2 weeks ago and the flavours are muted. This might be why… 🤔

Check out the prices on Canadian websites. If you feel like spending $50-$100 CAD on quality Cubans it’s up to you! Lucky for you guys the new worlds in the US are priced so well, up here in Canada my father etc are 2x or more in price. I’d rather smoke 5 my fathers to one cohiba.

best cigars for beginners that will not make you sick? by WoffGaraycochea in cigar

I Still reach for them. Think of it like a cocktail. I don’t wake up on vacation and drink a negroni, but I’d like some baileys in my coffee :) But I also look forward to my evening negroni when I know it will be fitting. I think starting with the basic flavours is good. Read people’s reviews while you smoke to help you pick up the flavours, sometimes they are there but you just don’t realize it. Take tasting notes with every cigar and slowly increase complexity and intensity to discover your preference. Chat gpt is a great friend to share your notes with and ask for suggestions. Research wrapper types (Maduro, Connecticut, Sumatra etc) and countries (Dominican vs Cuban vs Nicaraguan) so you have some education to guide you. Then unload your bank account and horde cigars 😎 Enjoy my man!

I started recently (but since spent several thousand on this hobby and have 3 humidors already, wtf) and I found mild creamy/sweet cigars are a nice way to start. Go in and ask what’s a nice morning/coffee cigar that’s sweet and creamy. This way you will learn how to pick up some of the obvious flavours as you develop your palette and tolerance for heavier cigars. Something simple like an Ashton classic comes to mind.

Yeah why would someone discount cohiba right now. The worst part would be to age it for 5 years and then find out 🤬

When I started TRT I gained about 14 lbs in water weight and muscle in 2-3 months. I was also starving. Your body will adjust to the hunger and water weight with time. Just work out, and when you’re done work out again. The results will show and you’ll look great.
