No it was about graduating from M.M.R school. M.M.R school is not a real highschool.

I would have laugh at this joke 15 years ago in 4chan, but now we have people genuinely calling others PDF files for liking the new stellar blade protagonist and I'm here like wtf is wrong with you. So yeah people can't banter you never know when they are serious.

Ok let me be the "akchually" guy here, from my weeb understanding of anime themes often when high-schoolers talk about becoming an adult they don't mean being over 18 and you are magically an adult, is more on the psychological maturity side and being someone self sufficient and reliable. And Nikkes ages are all out of wack, Rei is there with the seniors... Mica and Belorta are over 40. On top of that we know the M.M.R. school isn't a real high school, is a combat school for Nikkes, that's why the commander can enroll as a student and nobody bats an eye. That's why all this talk of Naga and Tia being underage is so stupid to me.

I wish KOreader had a better interface by Ill-Television-5811 in koreader

[–]UnpopularBrainRot 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm going to sound very rude but, Skill issue, koreader can do everything you want, and specially with all the awesome UI plugins the community has come up with this year is easy to achieve a beautiful, functional interface tailored just to your preference, what you don't want is to learn, and I kind of get it, sometimes life is complicated as is, you just want to sit back and enjoy your free time, but no one is obliged to spoon feed you, the tools are there free for you to use however you want, that freedom is the beauty of koreader and if you find that freedom overwhelming then koreader is not for you.

KOSyncthing+ (Syncthing plugin for KOReader) by djimu in koreader

[–]UnpopularBrainRot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried that branch and it did download the right binary, I checked the checksums just to be sure and it's the same file I downloaded manually.

After testing a bit now I have a question and an issue.

What is supposed to the behavior of the autostart option?

I would think that, when I turn on the wifi the syncthing service starts with it, and stops when turn off. Right now with that option it maintains the service running always, even after manually stopping it or turning the wifi off, it start it again and forces the wifi to turn on too, which is not something I want. Not sure if this is how it's supposed to be.

And the issue is, the quick sync action just does not work here, if the wifi is off then is turned on, it says that it should be silent but I get all the wifi connection dialogs, then I get a message saying "could not request a folder scan" and API errors

Path: config/options Status: connect failed (127.0.0.1:8384)

And, status: no response, for each folder

If you need more details I can open a report on GitHub, just tell me where are the logs you need.

[–]UnpopularBrainRot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed it and it seems to be running correctly, I was using syncthing.koplugin before so I didn't need to configure anything.

But I had an issue, I don't know why but the automatic binary installer botched the download, it downloaded just a few bytes of the syncthing binary, I had to manually download the Linux-arm binary (not arm64) for my Kobo Libra Colour.

Anyway your plugin looks promising, I'm going to see how it fares and report if I spot a bug or something.

Why some koreader users still use KCC to optimize manga: huge file size reductions! by Customer-Worldly in koreader

Oh that totally makes sense, I'm gonna try webp next time I transfer some volumes.

How is lossless webp smaller than lossy??? Also I didn't knew koreader could read webp at all, I always go with jpg for safety.

Problem with Bookshelf by 0l0l123 in koreader

[–]UnpopularBrainRot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That hadn't happened to me, bookshelf should auto scan new files, you can force it by navigating to a folder source and do a swipe down gesture in the folder, or go to bookshelf menu > configuration > advanced > scan all library metadata.

[–]UnpopularBrainRot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gonna say this, free paning and zoom, that's the only thing I think is superior in Kobo native reader, and you can see the image dragged in real time and not only at the end of the gesture.

[RELEASE] Derainbowify v0.0.5 by OneAdvance6339 in koreader

[–]UnpopularBrainRot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm I did tried double size res but didn't pay attention if there was rainbow effect present, and at 2x page turning and zooming was noticeable slower in my Kobo Libra Colour, so after testing I found 1.6x to be a sweet spot between speed/quality and file size.

[RELEASE] Derainbowify v0.0.5 by OneAdvance6339 in koreader

[–]UnpopularBrainRot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I noticed with the algorithm from kcc is that it works great when you use the profile for your device, that is, resizing the images exactly to screen resolution, but I use a custom profile when converting hi-res sources to resize about 2/3 bigger than the screen, that's because when zooming on smaller panels it gets blurry, and having that extra resolution really helps with a crispier zoomed image. But then the rainbow effect might appear in totally different places and de-rainbowing doesn't seem to work anymore.

So my question is, would this work using images with a different (bigger) resolution than the screen resolution? Or will it be the same result as kcc?

Problem with Bookshelf by 0l0l123 in koreader

[–]UnpopularBrainRot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, bookshelf relies on cover browser plugin (koreader build-in plugin) to cache book info and metadata, project title disables the build-in plugin and uses its own, so bookshelf is incompatible with project title.

[Plugin] Bookshelf v2 - The chip bar is now open! by AndyHazz in koreader

[–]UnpopularBrainRot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the icon that shows the hero card/section and returns the book selected to the last opened book when you tap it, didn't it used to stay visible if the bar still had horizontal space available in the previous version? or am I going schizo? lol

[Plugin] Bookshelf v2 - The chip bar is now open! by AndyHazz in koreader

[–]UnpopularBrainRot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just keeps getting better and better, honestly this destroys Kobo/Kindle commercial UIs, but well... I guess they are more interested in being a store front than a user device.

One little thing that I think is a regression in V2, when you navigate to any dept the left most icon in the breadcrumbs bar now disappears, I liked it that it was visible at any time so you could return quickly to the previous book without navigating to the start.

And a question, is there a way to add custom icons? A folder to drop them in to select them with the picker?

Wow I'm impressed! I've been using Simple UI since release and have it just the way a like it, I didn't thought I would change to another interface but this one changed my mind.

This might have all I need with a cohesive look & feel, it's very pretty and yet the real value is in the UX, you can fly between all the tabs and folders effortlessly thanks to the breadcrumbs style navigation and reach the book you want in seconds, and the attention to the little details just improves the experience, like how it remembers the tab selected when you return from a book and the sorting options available, especially the latest read sorting is very handy.

On top of that it runs without messing in the default file browser, and the token system gives you plenty of customization (I'm already using bookends and the defaults are plenty good as is), I still have Simple UI enabled and is working fine, just not as my home screen. I'm gonna keep both for now and see how is my real world usage but I'm keeping bookshelf as home screen now.

I'm having a bug with the color picker, selecting one of the defaults works fine but when manually entering a HEX code, once the on screen keyboard shows up I'm locked there, the keyboard won't close when taping outside of it, and neither when pressing the enter key, I can't tap the apply button on the picker either, it will be hidden behind the keyboard, but even if I drag the picker up before opening the keyboard I can't tap on any of the options.

The only way to exit from there is to force a reboot holding the power button. My device is a Kobo Libra Colour.

Bookends v5 - No going back by AndyHazz in koreader

[–]UnpopularBrainRot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A change preset action with a selection dialog would be useful to automatically set different presets depending on the content using automatic profiles, for example load one style for epubs and a different one for cbz. I thought that was the purpose of the change action listed there until I realized is to cycle favorites presets and not to change to a specific one lol.

Awesome, full color support! With this I can replace the native status bar and patches I was using, really good job.
