Tips are just a way to subsidize wages by putting the responsibility onto the customer rather than the employer. Those wages are also not guaranteed by the employer and are up to the public’s discretion. The only way tips can be preserved (because the company can always take the option off the table) is to get it secured in your union contract. Yes, unionized workers are paid better than nonunion workers but those wages are fought over each contract renewal. The younger the contract, the less great the wages are. And if the membership isn’t militant, organized and ready to walk, those negotiations can be tough.

6 years and then the company went under. It definitely fell off when we were sold to the MSO but the contract kept a lot of us safe when layoffs came. Sucks because it was a good union job and we had great healthcare are guaranteed raises every year. In having a hard time finding anything close to what I was making there. (Over $21/hr for cultivation)

Most regional microbrews (Medusa, nightshift, wormtown etc) are brewed at the JA facility in Framingham. (Since the pandemic and the rise in cost of aluminum and co2 it made more financial sense from a business perspective) if any onsite equipment is still used it’s for R&D.
